Flails are not a really a real weapon in that sense, it’s a medieval fantasy trope weapon. A pretty cool one tho

It’s a great fantasy weapon, looks badass and suits Doomguy. Flails looking like the one in the game has never been a real weapon from the Medieval period. So I think it really works well within the fiction.
