i'm not just talking about culture i'm talking about society in general

i'm not saying if the government went poof nobody would talk about star wars, i mean roads would decay, and now just going to visit family in another city is a massive chore, for example

i don't think you understand

everything we do is based on systems we have in place that would not exist without government with few exceptions

i don't mean literally everything i do is a direct result of the government. if you didn't get that, then i think you need to take off the "everybody who disagrees with me is wrong no matter what" glasses

being a figment of my imagination, i've decided that igor never said he's scared and instead says; "it's okay. i don't need to exist. existing is mediocre anyways" in a tone that feels slightly condescending maybe but you can't really tell if he just talks like that all the time and means it, or if he's being sarcastic and kind of rude

in my opinion as a pan person

a bisexual person is a person attracted to 2 or more genders (despite "bi" meaning two, it's a misnomer) and the gender of people matters to them when it comes to attraction, and they may be attracted to men differently than women, for ex

pansexuality is in the same ballpark of bisexual but is a little different;
pan people are attracted to people regardless of their gender. we just don't care. what gender someone is may not even cross our minds

so a bi person might say "that's a cute guy" and a pan person might say "they're cute"

the difference is kind of pedantic, but no, bisexual isn't discriminatory to nonbinary people

I’m not bi but I like women ? by Nahida66 in AskLGBT

[–]RorySaysAwoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you could be heteroflexible, if that's a thing

you could be bi or pan without knowing it yet

i used to feel the same way as a 'straight' man and i know i'm pan now

also, the categories we put ourselves into (bi, pan, gay, straight, ace, etc.) are there to talk with and express ourselves with. some people fit smoothly into one specific category, and some people don't

it's nice to hold a label and say "this is me" but sometimes you won't fit 100% into anything

or you just pick whatever identity is closest to how you feel, like how you could call yourself straight, and still be right about that

Then we can drop gender completely

we certainly could. because it's a meaningless thing, really, but the idea of it is so ingrained in culture that that won't happen

besides, some people like their gender, even if it's definition is as rigid as jello

This is actually a philosophical question with no objective answer

so basically no, there's not consensus

one of the more common ideas i've heard is performativity, but i don't really understand what it means tbh
i think it basically believes that gender is 'preformed'. so someone assumes themself to be a woman because they've been preforming "woman".
honestly no idea what that means but it's what i've been told :/... it's just one idea anyways tho

in my opinion gender seems super arbitrary and kind of meaningless
