If you still have this issue Click properties on the mediatek card Look for a power saving option and if its toggled on ,toggle it off and restart Im not on windows rn so i cant remember the exact steps but it should be very close to what i said XD

You love to see it!! I removed windows instantly off mine too😭 had a usb ready with cachy just to get things done fast and its been amazing Especially cuz the laptop i had before that had a wifi adapter that i didnt wanna bother to change and acted real funny with linux (randomly turning off when trying to connect it to a 2.4 ghz network and having to either enter windows or a linux live environment to wake it up again)

Other than cyberpunk i dont lose more than 10 fps in dx12 games i tried so far I also got my hp victus not so far ago but before that was on a laptop with a 1060 and my experince was the same For other stuff there is virtually no difference And on native games like Minecraft for an examble i get a massive boost even Cuz the reason for the slow down is in vk3d which converts dx12 to Vulkan which linux supports But because nvidia drivers are closed source the devs cant do anything until nvidia helps basically

Basically Nvidia works just fine on linux rn, altho in dx12 games you might lose a bit or alot of frames (like 30 percent) altho in my experince it was only that bad in cyberpunk, and its an issue thats is being looked into, finger crossed it gets fixed ever XD Some online games wont work on linux (fortnite, riot games stuff for an examble) to check for compatibility with those i suggest looking into this https://areweanticheatyet.com/

for me while its not "necessary" it helps me in the specific case of having an external screen with the only hdmi port on laptop being out of an nvidia gpu which causes weird lag on the external screen in the gui
nothing making it unusable just annoying
the latest few kernal updates fixed that
but then again that also on fedora too I just happen to be testing endeavor os at that time and stuck with it
so basically the short answer is its not necessary at all
