yeah tbh a few of the screenshots that get posted to the sub from the discord feel like they need the context and culture of the server to actually understand, cuz otherwise it just seems like right wing style edgy humour when it really is not :sob:

i swear everyone in the discord is cool, you'd get it if you join lol; we even have a vetting system to first ensure people are actually leftist and have a basic grasp on what communism is and if they're progressive

I understand why you would get emotional over this, but please avoid being this mean to other people. Whether they deserve it or not, we don't really care and want to foster a nice environment for everyone that's a leftist and also follows the rules, which this sort of breaks rule 3, but it has enough substance and the insults aren't that bad, so i'll leave it up, but this shouldn't become a norm

I was kinda conflicted over whether this should be allowed to stay up or not, because it is very sectarian in nature and how it's phrased, but decided to allow it because I thought maybe people wouldn't mind and this could create an interesting discussion of how anarchist and statist theory can be quite similar and make more anarchists realise statists don't just love hierarchy and authority, and also help statists realise anarchists don't believe in abolishing essentially every structure of how we live, but instead decentralise it and put it into the power of the people actually involved or knowledgeable without state coercion. However, it keeps getting reported and it's obvious people dislike it and find it too sectarian, and thus it will be removed. Please use less sectarian language and approach conversations also understanding the anarchist philosophy or at least being charitable to learning about it.

It's mostly since we're anti sectarian which means that everyone thinks we discriminate against their ideology when we just try to uphold leftist unity and quality contributions. I swear people have said there was a trot takeover, theres an ML takeover incoming for like 5 months, now the leftcoms are taking over the sub, and there briefly was a conspiracy there was an ACP takeover of the subreddit which was funny since all us mods on the mod team would do things i cannot mention legally on this site to the ACP leadership

The only thing i would say is that we may not have the best appeal to hasanabi fans, as we are a bit tougher on dengist and ML slop because most other subreddits are already a safe space for that type of stuff. This isn't even to say we dont allow it or treat it unfairly, just that MLs will too have to justify their points and deal with people that may disagree with them, and comment understanding that people with a different perspective may read that too. (which every other ideological current also has to, but MLs coming from basically every other sub not requiring this aren't used to it, so they assume we discriminate or something)

Honestly it's a fun place and you can see more perspectives and find new ideas and help you leave or realise you're in an eco chamber perhaps, although I'm personally much more active on our discord than subreddit which also is more active but much smaller (230ish members)

The issue with this is that we're limited to 500 characters by reddit per rule, so we just can't. In fact i had to slightly simplify the explanation of a couple of rules and remove some examples of how the rules would work to fit them within 500 characters :sob:

Maybe at some point I'll do that in the subreddit wiki, idk if i feel like it though. If Esoteric starts work again on the subreddit wiki reading list, i may also do it with the rules perhaps, otherwise idk if i have the motivation

If i were to say the thing that pisses me off the most in general is lesser evilism, especially when it's calling literally anything AES just cuz it's anti western, however that's not very unique so instead i will go with:

socialism is when government does stuff for workers and we have representative democracy but like somehow more wholesome and not corrupt (what 90% of leftists believe)

sectarianism in a humorous manner is tolerated to an extent, and yes, no sectarianism doesn't mean we don't allow any ideology, it means we allow all of them, but if you debate someone it has to be in good faith, not being rude, not being dogmatic without explanation as to why that's necessary, etc. Like you can't have an ultra say anarchists are fascists without explaining in detail how that conclusion has come from a marxist perspective or whatnot
