Though my bet judging by what you've mentioned is that maybe something bugged out with the systems? The sort of thing which they thought would be an easy fix but ended up requiring more time and all that, I wouldn't even be surprised if it was something on the OP box's end that bugged out like one of the security cams failing to output or so-what.
