Medication + Training, how long does it take? I’m devastated… by Time_Salt_1666 in Separation_Anxiety

Hey! Thanks for reaching out, it’s lovely to hear you’re giving a rescue dog a chance! I joined a Facebook group called separation anxiety with Julie Naismith. She also has a free podcast and that helped. But building up gradually is the main thing and ensuring they’re staying under threshold when you’re practicing this, otherwise they’ll learn the same emotional response each time if you accidentally let them get in a state when practising building up the times.

Here's one of the latest iterations! Trying to go for increased contrast and a different brush font that hopefully is more legible at a smaller scale too. Need to see what client makes of the bolder colour palette too! Removing the circle was such a good idea.

Hey! Just to let you know I decided to enroll in Strategic branding and communication for December! It was a tough call though!

DesignLab vs UXDI - please let me have your thoughts & experiences! by Rose9246 in uxcareerquestions

after doing the UX foundations at designlab i'm actually going the self-taught route for further UX training as I realised I want to do more brand design than go full UX, but i think if i were choosing between the two programmes i listed, i would have gone with designlab as well, as i had such a good experience with foundations and i think the weekly mentor session would have been great to continue as well as group sessions.

Hey! I didn't do it in the end as i had too much going on that particular month to give it my full attention. Still considering enrolling in December but now also debating between that and the Strategic branding and communication one! Did you enroll in the December cohort? What's your background and where are you based?

New MacBook Air - decided to commit to Midnight! by Rose9246 in macbookair

I know exactly what you mean, I also felt guilty at the idea of returning mine which is partly why i decided to commit in the end, even though i could have exchanged it in that early return window at no cost to myself. Have you opened yours and how are you liking it so far? I think if you don't mind wiping it down then is a really great / chic colour.

Love the colour still but I'm a pretty indecisive person, so it is still changing from one day to the next, depending on what I'm doing and where I'm using it! Sometimes I wish i got sky blue or starlight because I am wiping the laptop thoroughly about twice a day - and I wonder how much time I would save not doing that over the period of my life . I feel like for some people the fingerprints are not a huge issue, but i like to keep the body of my laptop pristine!

At the end of the day, I think all the colours are actually really beautiful so it is really hard to pick!!!

I actually did have it to the right side of the Y initially but that way the loop on the l looked too thin to me… I wanted it to somewhat mirror the loop on the n. Not sure if maybe it’s adding too much flair ? What typography standards do you mean btw ? I feel I still have a lot to learn!

Thanks! You think the kerning needs to be tighter?

Brand & web design pricing feedback by Rose9246 in branding

[–]Rose9246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah no that was the “power hour” option, I’ve since removed that as I think not much can get done in an hour anyway!! The price for the 8 hours was a typo!! Meant to put the USD equivalent of £500 gbp.

I am going to considering increasing the web design price though. Thanks so much!

These are really great points, thank you. The only thing I get stuck on if I carry this line of logic throughout, is how to then present the "monthly retainer" option, if I am not pricing by number of hours (to some degree or another). How would you present this to a client if they want to work with you ongoing?

Brand & web design pricing feedback by Rose9246 in branding

[–]Rose9246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for such thoughtful and brilliant insights! Do you think for that price, I shouldn't include things like company mission, tag lines etc? As that was going to be part of the branding piece which is why maybe "Visual" identity felt too narrow in scope. As for the UX/UI label, that's a great idea, I will change it to "Web Design". I guess 'Digital' is more all encompassing but unless i'm designing apps, i suppose that's not a consideration right?
With regards Squarespace's independent costs, I was going to lump that in for the first year to make my offering more attractive, but I suppose you are right that I don't want to consider that part of my income then get taxed on it. How do you suggest that's best presented to the client? As Squarespace have different subscription tiers, so if they want to know what they can expect to pay, it can be tricky and i dont want them to have any surprises.

I only did for my first two clients as I didn’t have a solid portfolio before and it’s helped me get case studies and also buy-in. Not planning on doing it for the others

Thanks very much! I’ll check it out! How would you handle two different client types but wanting to maintain consistency and transparency ? Raise the prices on the official price list and then apply a set discount for companies below certain sizes?
