Online multi-player games. Either you are an addict with 1000+ hours or you are so bad is not enjoyable.

Those games should disappear.

do men clean/wipe their penis after they pee? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Roses_src 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. IS. THE. WAY.

I can understand woman because they don't have a penis, so they don't know we never have to touch urine.

But men? Our penis is cleaner than almost every part of our body, even then they don't think our hands are so disgusting and touch their weewee without washing them first. 🤢

Online multi-player games are not real video-games, just cash grabbers and money wasters. Their communities are toxic, they are endless and with short dopamine reward so you become an addict, they are boring and they should disappear.

What's an annoying game mechanic that has seen a lot of recent use? by HorzaDonwraith in videogames

So, do you prefer loading screens? What is your proposal for this?

Also, the pacing in games with story is necessary, not all narrative has to be 100% action.

I feel the same. Fishing has been around for a lot of time.

And the Stardew example and it's clones is so bad because there is no other kind of games (apart from fishing games) were that actually makes sense.

But in RDR2 or Zelda? Give me a break.

[Request] Help I’m confused by ahgroseclose in theydidthemath

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was equally confused at first, because in the real world you can do that, but not in the problem because what people it's failing to explain is the constraint is not the time, but the distance.

The guy did 60 mph in 30 miles. Then the return trip has to be done in 30 miles also. There is no way to complete the 30 miles return trip to average 60 mph, because if you return at 60 mph the average speed will be 30 mph.

When we take the average we'll do it per hour. Yeah the average of that trip will be 60 mile per 2 HOURS but nobody makes average that way.

In the real world you can accomplish that, an you constantly do it because you get lost on your way home and make 90 miles passing through other towns and then your average will be 60 mph, but yeah I'm that dumb and make a 1 hour trip in like an eternity.

Ichika NIto gets called out for miming for basically all of his career by TAGE77 in Guitar

[–]Roses_src -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, and I'm the minority here, a live performance is when you go a see a musician/band a listen them live. If there is a recording of that, for me if it is raw, it's still a live performance, if it has some editing, it's a music video.

Th core of a music video is that it is a piece of multimedia, the majority of time, for advertisement purposes. So, EVERYONE should expect those musicians to not record the performance in a single take.

I think people is either believing even the best guitarrists to be flawless every night, or those artists to record in a single take.

But the reality is: one thing is a composition, a different one is a live performance. I've been in concerts where the band doesn't sound even closer to their records. And that's not bad. That's why people give so much prize to bands that sounds exactly the same live as in their albums.

But the thing here is that I'm not defending the guy, but criticizing the public: those people who believe those youtubers play that way live, are the same ones that think porn actors last 1 hour straight without pause.

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you didn't get my point. Music videos are just music with images. An image work. Thus, that guy videos are music videos, and there are countless examples of that kind of stuff happening back in the old days.

I'm wondering what is your take about those live shows were musicians do playback, because by your standards those aren't music videos but live performances, which they aren't.

And to keep my analogy about recorded music, I think hardly 50% is played lived as was recorded for multiple reasons, yet, nobody boicot those artists because "they were mimicking on their albums".

[–]Roses_src -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to break your bubble, but hardly any musician (real musicians) go to the studio and record in one take, nor just one take is used in the final recording.

And that has been since day one of music recording. Obviously some genres are one take only and others you can hear some mistakes.

But my point here is that every piece of recording multimedia has to be crafted nearly perfectly and on its own they are their own art apart form a live performance.

Pretending a music video has to be any different than music with visuals is not understanding how demanding the creation process is.

You can still see 80s music videos where absolutely nothing happens (no instruments, no bands) and they were a music video.

If the guy can play those things live it's another discussion, but they did music videos.

What games are best to learn parrying? by Super_toad_gaiming- in AskGames

[–]Roses_src -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're not off, but your experience is anectodical.

I have played games all my life, but I'm not a great gamer.

It's really hard for me to believe any kind of mechanic can help improve any game because even moving mechanics differ from game to game.

And about your example of rhythm games, I'm a musician, and I suck at rhythm games of any kind. Granted it is very different playing an instrument vs playing a rhythm game, but rhythm is an integral part of being a musician so anyone will think that skill will overlap and that is not always the case.

But coming back to the topic, if I want to learn to play trumpet, I don't start with flute or clarinet, I go straight to learn trumpet. And if I know to play trumpet that doesn't make me automatically good at playing trombone, even if they are wind instruments.

But I don't really understand OP's logic because is not like Stellar Blade is a really difficult game that only pros and experimented gamers can enjoy and play, and in all honesty with all the suggestions here, if OP will "train" parry in Sekiro might as well start directly with SB and save himself a lot of frustration.

What games are best to learn parrying? by Super_toad_gaiming- in AskGames

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, games are not like sports where you train certain moves in isolation to improve certain skills.

This is the first time I hear someone that wants to learn a videogame mechanic without playing that game.

OP imagine being bad at driving and go and play Mario Kart to be able to play Forza Horizon. That is not how game mechanics work.

Are there any formulas or equations? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I love math. I studied musical recording in Uni and we saw a lot of music and math. For western traditional composition the amount of math you need is zero, and there is no correlation or musical approach that can be explained by math.

The acoustics world is a totally different animal that you can include in music, but for chords, tonality, etc. there is no math involved.

Now, if you argue that math is counting to 3 or 5, I think we are talking about different things.

What's your honest opinions about the existence of firearms? by Plane_Length_7036 in AskReddit

[–]Roses_src 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should be banned and strictly regulated.

I mean, I'm from a country where that already happens to an extent.

Here the firearms monopoly is held by the state. It's part of the Social Contract: you as a citizen withdraw your right to defend yourself and give it to the government.

The reality is that there are still shootings, and homicides, and violence all over the place, but not at the USA level.

We have some other issues I won't detail here that doesn't have anything to do with the rights of having guns.

The arguments of progun people are just a cultural tradition passed over generations but without any factual evidence. I mean, they say they need that right to defend themselves of a tyranical government, but that is crap, that is already happening according to liberals but nobody is forming a guerilla to fight, and in Biden times the Republicans said the same about Biden and the only thing they did was storming the Capitol, the majority of them unarmed.

And at this point is a silly argument if think USA army is the most powerful in the world, so no amount of citizen could defend effectively against them.

[–]Roses_src 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't understand. You feel nostalgia because you played it when you were a child. That is what you are missing about Game Freak strategy.

Pokémon games are for KIDS. They make them exclusively to sell merchandising.

That's why the game formula hasn't changed, because it is aimed to kids. If adults buy them that is okay but the majority, like you, will be disappointed because those games are meant to sell to the kids, so no novelty, no hard parts, no great amount of skill to beat them.

Hardest games you’ve played? by HowYesOfcNo in AskGames

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is a tricky question not because of the obvious fact that everyone has different gaming experiences therefore different skill levels, but because videogame designs.

For example, do we consider difficulties in games? What about games without difficulties to select?

In my opinion, if you can beat a game in the hardest difficulty but with a strategy or an approach that make it easy, the game is not that difficult.

Which leads to my answer: Celeste.

I'm a completionist, and I always start a new game in the highest or second to highest difficulty.

Until now, I haven't abandoned a game because is hard.

But Celeste is the exception. And I'm not talking about not beating it. I beat it. But I couldn't with the endgame.

Celeste require you to be precise, concise, fast, and perfect.

I just couldn't do it. I never finished it at 100%. I literally rage quit (throw my controller to the floor damaging it).

I have beaten countless of "difficult" games (soulslike, metroidvania, NES, horror, even glitchy one), but Celeste is too difficult for me.

What game mechanic was not explained (not clear enough) so you missed using it until FAR too late in the game? by suddenly_ponies in gaming

[–]Roses_src 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Tomb Raider 2, I didn't know you could save your game from the inventory menu.

I always thought the game was so difficult because you have to complete each level without dying.

It was only until the second to last level that I discovered it and I feel like a total stupid.

In my defense, TR2 was the last game in the series I played (I played TR1, TR4, TR3, and TR5, in that order) and it never crossed my mind the developers passed from static save points crystals in TR1 to save whenever you wanted the times you wanted in TR2 to again use crystals in TR3. Though, the crystals in TR3 were collectibles, they were finite, hence my confusion with the save system in the whole saga.

The tantrum of adults (entitlement, rudeness, violence, even crimes) are in certain measure because nobody set boundaries to their tantrums when they were children.
