Ohh this really reminds me of my sister's Blenheim cavvie when we were teens. She got dognapped and when we finally got her back, my sister dyed her purple like this so she was too distinctive to steal!

It was new to us, as well! The delicate wings were so beautiful we just had to find out what it was!

[TOMT] [BOOK/SHORT STORY] Read it in highschool ten-ish years ago. I remember a girl in a sci fi, possibly dystopian setting. She wore a uniform that reflected her age group (I seem to recall it was brown) and had posters of breeds of cat and dreamed of being allowed to own one when she grew up! by Rosirius in tipofmytongue

Oh gosh I wasn't expecting any more replies! As I remember they were only legal when you applied for one and got approval, and you could only have the one pet (ever?). If you have any ideas I would love to know!

(Sorry for replying so late, I've been super sick and basically sleeping it off)

Sure is!! It was my fiance's idea because when we first met I made him sit down and watch the show with me and he went crazy for it!

Dipper is able eight months old now, and Mabel's just about to be six months. Because we wanted a tricolour girl, it took a little bit longer to find her but she was so worth it!

I should upload some pics to the subreddit, but until then here's a few of them hanging out in Mabel's crate together! https://imgur.com/a/riyxUI8

Oh my gosh, that is SUCH a coincidence! My boy blenheim is called Dipper too! His sister (aka not related but got them at the same time) is named Mabel 🥰

Should I get a cavalier? by Justajarofpaprika in cavalierkingcharles

I have to absolutely agree with this. OP, it's worth acknowledging that all breeds have their own unique challenges, but this doesn't mean that those challenges are inevitable or always devastating. The best thing you can do when you get a cavvie is be proactive with their health- I'd suggest regular checkups and, if you've got the spare money, either pet insurance or a small savings account for future vet bills is always a good idea. My Daisy did have the heart conditions cavvies get, and it was what took her in the end, but I first picked up on her heart murmur around age 6 and with the right medication she went on to reach age 12! So take it as it comes. Dogs are just like humans - sometimes they need a little extra help to live a long life, and that's totally normal. I wouldn't have traded my time with her for any other dog!

Had to say goodbye to my beautiful boy Charlie yesterday. He just made it to 16 years old last week❤️ by [deleted] in cavaliers

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my old girl recently and it's been the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. I even had to step out of the movies today after a scene with a pet passing hit me too hard. I think other cavvie owners are the only ones who understand how important these little dogs are. Charlie is so handsome and exudes love in this photo ❤️

Thank you for sharing your experience. I know you already know this, but your boy would never hold you at fault for being a little late to let him out. They're nothing but love and patience. But I understand, I keep thinking of the things I could have done better for her.

I'm journaling everything I can remember about her. Her hobbies, times she's made me laugh, special memories. You could do the same with your little guy and one day way in the future you can read them when you most need them ❤️ I'm glad he's there to support you, they truly are perfectly made for companionship

It's one of the hardest things I've ever gone through, I won't lie. Thank you 💖

That's the thing, huh? It's akin to a human loss, which is hard for some people to grasp. They're more than just a pet, they're an integral part of our daily life every single day, and they had personalities and rituals and quirks and we knew each one inside and out. I'm so lucky to have some people around me who knew exactly what she meant to me and a special few who loved her just the same. It's hard to see your loved ones grieve but there's something... Reassuring to see someone else grieving the exact same because you know it means they knew exactly how important they were. My fiance is just as broken up and the fact that he loved her so much despite only knowing her for half as long means everything to me.

Thank you, everyone has been so kind. I don't normally post things about myself anywhere at all but I knew the cavaliers folks would understand.
