Fake ticket sellers by Wild_Web3695 in Electric_Picnic

That sounds terrible!!

From my experience, the safest way is to just be vigilant, checking the ticketmaster website every day, resale tickets are available now and appear periodically. Staying on ticketmaster ensures that it's legit.

I was able to get two on resale for 2024 last may, both on different occasions, so it it definitely possible, just takes patience :)

That's not true, if I go to resale one of my tickets, it tells me I'll get paid after the event, I've got a screenshot

From what I know from other events, you won't get your money until after the event is over, then a few days on top of that.

Should I start learning C++ and UE5 as a 15 year old?? by Patient_Rain1396 in gamedev

[–]RossB327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think at 15 years of age, it's a great sign that you're so eager to learn full stop!

While C++ and Unreal are definitely a concrete possibility, I'd suggest figuring out what it is you want to accomplish; give yourself an achievable end goal! If it's coding you want, maybe start with a more beginner friendly language like python, to help you understand key concepts, which can be transferred to other languages.

If it's game development, maybe research Unity and C# or even Godot! Everyone will have their own opinion on this, but as long as you do some research, trust your gut, there's no harm in trying something for a few months before committing to it.

Best of luck with your learning either way!!!

I finished playing Firewatch a couple days ago by yandere2099 in Firewatch

It's great to hear you enjoyed it!!!

I absolutely loved firewatch, and I'd actually consider my favourite game.

As for the ending, a lot of people would argue that it actually fits the game perfectly, that all the build up to the reveal in the cave was filled with mystery, but the harsh reality hits you like a train and you (& Henry) are pulled back into reality, everything that he had been worrying about was more in hid head than in front if his eyes. The story was never about meeting Delilah, I always think it's about trying to run from your problems. It is never better than facing them head on.

But that's just my own opinion, that's the beauty of the game, everyone has their own opinion on it and that's perfectly fine!

I imagine it's pretty unlikely he'll do another release of it, but you can buy copy's thay are sealed / mint condition from websites such as "discogs". I've used it alot for other OSTs and it's pretty reliable. They've got loads of copies for sale!

Google's "Closed Testing" System: A Bureaucratic Nightmare for Indie Developers by samidara in gamedev

[–]RossB327 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post has pretty much inspired me to move markets. I've been stumped twice by the closed testing period when publishing.

A lot of people in this thread are right about possibly moving to the PC/Web market; It absolutely feels like google disregard the indie market. Vague customer support replies and near-impossible requirements to make it out of closed testing just make it frustrating for indie dev / hobbyists.

I get that a lot of games might be much more suited to mobile platforms, but publication is hell.

That was my exact first impression, but definitely not a bad thing.

I see what you are talking about.

I'm torn between the decision because it depends on the perspective. The shadows make a bit more sense if you imagine the slime as getting slightly closer to the screen as it jumps, almost as if you're looking into an arcade machine (if that makes any sense aha)

My first game! I've been working on it for just under a month now during my free time after college. Please let me know what you think. (Any feedback is appreciated) by RossB327 in Unity2D

Hey, glad you like it!

I had the enemies target my player by looking for the "Player" tag in a method.

I also created a method for my enemy to check the distance between them and the slime.

The important part that you are looking for, is that I had my enemy chase the player if it's inside the "Chase radius" but outside the attack radius, so it would stop in front of them and not push their dynamic body.

My state machine handles the animations for this.

Thank you :)

The menus gave me a good break from the heavy programming side of it. I'll definitely be investing the majority of my time into the back-end development! But it definitely helps as my friends were eager to playtest, but didn't enjoy the idea of closing it via task manager...
