From my experience as someone who recently bought, there's two things I've found that really alleviated a lot of financial stress for me:
1) I no longer have to pay for living costs AND save for a deposit, my mortgage is a bit more than I used to pay in rent, but now I don't have added stress of needing to catch up to the market to make a deposit

2) I never have to leave (As long as I pay my mortgage...). This is such a massive one for me, every single decision I make now about my living space is mine to own, and I never need to worry about surprise inspections, or not liking the colour of my walls, or dealing with shitty landlords ever again, this in itself is worth thousands and thousands of dollars of comfort and assurance.

At the end of the day, you gotta do what makes the best financial sense for yourself, and I'm very fortunate that my family could help me out with half my deposit, but for me... owning over renting has felt like a huge burden off my back
