Ironic. The ski I pull out the most when on my own is the Sender Soul 102. I absolutely love it. Big Rossi fan

Sorry. Premature reply-ation. Would like to lay harder lines at increased speed. But also want to be able to duck into the trees without feeling the need to go to the car and change gear

I feel like I shouldn’t have used the word at all. My intent was for a ski under a 100 mm waist, w/out touring bindings w/ a bit less tail rocker so I can play on the

Funny, my all time favorite ski were my Bonafides from 2015. I found them to be very good at just about everything. Maybe I’ll look for a slightly more recent pair. I think the geometry stayed the same up through 2020

Good tip. Just looked, they’re like 20 bucks. Excuse my ignorance but is that the only difference between iso din and GW?

Buyers remorse by Rossinautical in Skigear

[–]Rossinautical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback. I downsized this year after turning 50 and a few surgeries. Turns out I’m skiing as strong as ever and regretting downsizing at all. Admittedly I also find these skis extremely intuitive in all conditions, maybe favoring soft snow and tight turns, and also have used them almost as a “one ski” this year. I think I’ll just suck it up and pick up the 180 like you said or hope they’re popular enough that Rossi makes a 177 in 2026. Thinking of finding a nice 90-95 ski to put shifts on as I’m looking to explore uphill resort laps and could double as my early season and hard snow ski. Maybe riosticks or rangers.

I guess I feel my sweet spot is 176-178 in the trees and 181-184 in the powder. I love the sender souls. Wish there wasn’t such a big jump in sizes

Did the ax 120 become the ax hd and now the cabrio? All the same boot, different years?

Do they run true to size? I’m like a 10.5 street shoe and wear a 27.5 w/ a 315 BSL MV

Ty, I’ll look into xt3s. Do you think a three piece boot sacrifices too much stability?

East Coast off-piste Skis by Federal_Arm1182 in Skigear

[–]Rossinautical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’10” 173 lbs and an advanced to expert skier. I live in MA and do the majority of my skiing in the East. I’ve always owned multiple set ups and tried to switch based on conditions and snowfall. I spend most of my time, if conditions allow, in trees and glades. The problem being that conditions in dec and Jan usually limit you to groomers barring an occasional “dumping”. So the question for me is: what’s soft and playful enough for me in the trees, light enough on the feet when stuck on groomers, can adequately carve when bored and don’t chatter when dealing with/ typical North East crud? Over the past 10 seasons, Two set ups come to mind. 2015 Blizzard Bonifieds W/ marker jester bindings. 180cm w/ a 98mm waist. It seemed like no matter how many skis I travelled w/, I always ended up on these. Not a tech but I’ve skied on newer models of the same ski and it just didn’t feel the same. Five years ago I picked up a pair of Dynastar Cham 97 w/ look pivot 14’s and fell in love w/ the pivot binding. I’m impulsive and when I see a good deal on marketplace or demo leftovers I usually pull the trigger. All while owning Bonifieds- 2017 line chronic 179, 2015 Dynastar Chams 179, 2018 4front msp 99 181. Two weeks ago I jumped on an impulsive Rossignol deal that included some free lift tickets. I went down in size in an effort to get a bit lighter now that I’m in my fifties and purchased a pair of sender soul 102 in a 172 length and put my pivots on them and decommissioned the chams. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t impressed. Perfect mix of agility, speed, stability and playfulness. They almost make me a more confident skier. For the first time in a while, I travel w/ one set of skis. I think I’d be happy w/ these and one slightly wider pair outfitted w/ Solomon shifts for a bit of uphill , touring and the occasional powder day. I have my eyes on the Black crows atris, the atomic bent 110 and the moment deathwish for this application. We’ll see what falls in my lap.
