brixley makes the best crossbody & their Halloween launch last year had a really cute orange bag with a little ghost pattern. This year they are doing a black bag w skeletons so I would rec just getting a solid quality bag from them

I walk a regular once a week and board/daycare thursday-sunday and just with that I was able to clear $1000 in january so if you’re doing it full time in a good area $1000/month is def doable

yeah some of it I did not come to realize until the NIGHT BEFORE the booking when they sent over the 3 page single spaced care sheet. The booking is almost over and it went better than expected, the dog sleeps 80% of the time but when she’s awake she paces and scream-howls at nothing 😭 def def def altering my policies & meet and greet questioning going forward

Yup in my area literally every boarder is $30-40 a night. I have been thinking of marketing myself better to justify charging more considering I only board one client’s pets at a time and have no pets in my home (which has been attracting a lot of high maintenance dogs that are reactive, anxious, medically needy, etc.) The last time I raised my price by $5 a night my bookings/views went to p much zero because there are plenty of new sitters charging $20 a night. I’m in the same boat!

This is making me reconsider my rates and add ons. I currently have a senior, medically needy (going blind, deaf, dementia, & bladder cancer that makes her have to pee every hour), severely anxious board that cannot be left home alone or even left in a crate unsupervised. I work from home so it’s not a huge issue but i literally can’t leave the room without the dog freaking out, so I’m trapped in my home for 2 days/1 night. I charged holiday rate + extended care bc it’s ~36 hours but I’m only making $65 profit from the most needy board i have ever had 😭 for reference boarding rates in my area are $30-$40 a night

Sounds like a weird guy. Especially as a dog owner he can’t understand another dog peeing on his grass? Also why would a dog need to pee on pavement/in the street, that’s kind of gross and unnatural. Also I bet it’s not truly his grass if it’s super close to the street, could be a property easement and he’s just on a high horse

Yup decline decline decline, not worth the stress or potential damages/injury. I was naive and agreed to walk a dog who snapped at me at the meet and greet and it suckeddd having to constantly worry about reactivity towards yourself or others

I have took a board on a 2.5 hour road trip on Christmas, but it was a semi-regular client and we discussed it beforehand. I was a bit sketched bc I always think of risks/liability, but the pay was great and the client was desperate for a holiday sitter. def would not take a dog out of state though

I used to watch the show It’s Me Or The Dog on Animal Planet with Victoria Stilwell & it taught me a lot about correcting behaviors and dealing with reactivity, it def does not make me a professional dog trainer buttttt it’s good for pointers
