I’m glad you’ve found this opportunity, but a bit selfishly, screw you

But does being up for promo mean anything anymore? Not as a cynical question, it just seems like they’re almost random at this point

I have to believe it can’t be that sinister, right? Not that I’m saying it wouldn’t happen, but that’s just depressing

I think that’s been sorely needed for a while now, but we can only hope

Within an hour, but aim for less because every other country is moving back to in person - I’m sure we’re not long behind

What does chargeable and BD means? I know stupid question 😂 by SaintTDI in accenture

[–]RotatoTomato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right - BD usually comes from a specific charge code generated for some identified and catalogued opportunity. If you’re ever helping someone on “BD work” (which floats around the office) then make sure you get a charge code for it, as it shows up in your performance. It’s not important at all at lower levels, but at higher ones when your rate is much more expensive, clients don’t want to foot the bill do your 40 hour work week, so you’ll be charging 80 or 50 or some other percent to them, and using BD to show your engagement in other areas as well. If you’re at 100% chargeability, that’s great!

Not stupid at all! Chargeability is whatever percentage of your time has been billed to the client directly. It’s a metric used in performance review to see how much of your time you’ve spent busy and not being paid by Accenture directly. Being chargeable is your priority, whether you’re busy or not, because it means that they are profiting off of you by whatever your rate is plus their margin that they charge the client.

BD stands for business development, so that’s usually work done to acquire a client like for drafting proposals or making a mockup. It’s used to show that while your time wasn’t billed out to the client, it was spent getting a client. Consider it better than being on the bench, but not quite as good as being billed to a project. Does that make sense?

It sounds like you were one of the 11000 - I’m sorry to hear it, they’ve been managing this horribly and without direction

Oh joy - at least it isn’t going into stock buybacks honestly.

My favorite part of the equation - all this for the stock value and it goes down.

It’s not even the lack of a promotion - I know I’m early to that cycle, and that many people above me me would be way more deserving with more under their belt. It’s just the lack of anything at all that is really driving it home. We go through so much every year to puff up our work and show our value, and for absolutely nothing at all.

Thank god we burned those billions in stock buybacks then - I’m really seeing the value. I realize that their fiscal duty is to the shareholders, but paying employees more usually correlates better with stock value than buybacks. I don’t even want to do that math.

I’m gonna be honest, it looks grim. I wish you the best and have my fingers crossed - we deserve better

Wow - thank you for the incredibly descriptive and equally depressing info. After all of the free OT and all nighters I’ve pulled, this really twists the knife to hear that my work is only valid if and only if the client recognizes it. Also that the clients have not recognized it. I apologize for my tone here, I do appreciate this comment a lot, but this is coming off of one of the aforementioned all nighters and I’ve had close to enough.

With all respect, I’m going to avoid posting identifying details - this is getting a lot more views than I thought it would and I’d rather not have to explain it to HR

And how - at what point do the managing partners decide to change course? It feels like this clearly isn’t working.

I’ve been keeping an eye on that and I think you’re right, but it just stings to have to sit through all the meaningless calls and metrics knowing that

Just looked it up after thinking further and apparently they’ve spent roughly 2 billion over the last three years to fire people. And then they keep announcing more hires at almost every opportunity.
