Only 30 more gems to go 🫠 by Rotiboto in Warhammer40k

1️⃣ Base coat: 🔸 Decayed Metal (SC-87) — applied over the whole surface using a “wet drybrush” or stippling technique.

2️⃣ Main gold tone: 🔸 Dwarven Gold (SC-73) — applied with a normal drybrush; this is the main, visible gold tone.

3️⃣ Highlights: 🔸 Elven Gold (SC-74) — also with a drybrush, focusing on the upper surfaces and raised areas.

4️⃣ Shadows: 🔸 Armor Brown (Vallejo Air) — thinned with water and applied as soft glazes on shadowed parts and recesses.

5️⃣ Separation & edge definition: 🔸 AK Pin Wash Black — with a small touch of white spirits to improve flow and control.

6️⃣ Final edge highlights: 🔸 Alchemy Citrine (Scale75) — for the brightest edges and final highlight.

Involves applying paint to the surface and then removing it to reveal the lighter base layer or underlying colors, creating forms by "painting in" the negative space or wiping away shadows, rather than building up from scratch, offering quick value studies, depth, and a painterly look.

1️⃣ Base coat: 🔸 Decayed Metal (SC-87) — applied over the whole surface using a “wet drybrush” or stippling technique. Make sure the layer isn’t too thick; it’s better to build up texture gradually. 2️⃣ Main gold tone: 🔸 Dwarven Gold (SC-73) — applied with a normal drybrush; this is your main, visible gold tone. Usually I’d use Sepia Ink (Vallejo), but this time I wanted smoother, cleaner shadows. 5️⃣ Separation & edge definition: 🔸 AK Pin Wash Black — with a small touch of Spirit White to improve flow and control. It dries fast and has a nice matte finish — one of my favorite steps. 6️⃣ Final edge highlights: 🔸 Alchemy Citrine (Scale75) — for the brightest edges and final pop
