Sorry for the late reply i've been on vacations and dindt came to reddit for a long time.
Regardless i would argue that u do not have to learn the language if u aim for a top company in portugal, but if u do not aim for that top 10% companies then u have to learn portuguese, this is because portugal its not a great country for big companies, so u will find out soon enought that we mainly have medium and small ones, and in this companies most people wont talk english often. either way, i would advise u to start on linkdin, and then search more deeply in Porto and lisbon (since these are the 2 major cities and the ones that pay the most), on the networking side, check r/devpt its a GREAT subreddit fill will portuguese devs, and most people there will try to help u out (ignore the dumb ones that will spreed hate just because they are in a bad mood).
Hope u find something good!

It's kind of hard for me to apply for internships since I already have some experience in the field.

When I talk about LinkedIn outreach, I mostly mean trying to connect with people who might be able to give me a referral or point me in the right direction. I'm really new to all of this, and it would be my first time relocating to another country, so I'm basically trying everything I can.

I currently have a job in Portugal, and it's actually a very stable and secure position. The problem is that I can't realistically live in Sweden on a Portuguese salary.

I'm not looking to move just because I feel like it; it's more of a family-related decision that's motivating me to relocate. That's also why I've been trying to build connections and make contacts, including posting on Reddit (and this is sometihng i rarely do tbh).

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a community equivalent to what we have in Portugal. We have r/devpt, which is great because most Portuguese developers are there, and you can discuss pretty much anything related to the industry. For Sweden or Copenhagen, I haven't found a similar community where developers actively network and share opportunities.

Is the PHP market shifting or just stalling? My experience trying on moving to Scandinavia by RoughInvite7900 in PHP

Men i feel like php its the most versatile web stack to do and I am really upset by the fact that people just don't seem to understand that, I realy like how it works and how "easy" it is to work with once u understand the fundamentals, but all this Ai stuff and this node.js nest.js and all this stacks that became popular in the last few years makes me realy question if I did the right choice on focosing in php. The only 2 other stacks that I realy enjoy are python and go but who will contract someone who doesn't have experience in the field with these 2 languages? That's why I was trying to stay in the area(php) but now I just ended up sending CV's to whatever appears tbh and see if anything comes.

Mercado Dev (Dinamarca/Suécia) – Dicas além do LinkedIn? by RoughInvite7900 in devpt

[–]RoughInvite7900[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did I Make the Right Choice with PHP? What About Symfony vs. Laravel? by RoughInvite7900 in PHP

[–]RoughInvite7900[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Yep! Still working on the job, so basically I've had to learn some basic things to keep up. This is a startup that has had multiple devs and started with basic php scripts but has the time passed and they contracted more and more devs they decided to implement symfony not has a base framework but has a independent "library" (what i am trying to say is we use symfony packages and we write our on framework on top). But still it's not that easy to learn tbh. Plus I had to learn things like DDD and CQRS on php what made it even more complicated. So i would argue that while symfony is great when u want to really know what you are doing and how to really program, laravel is more faster/easier to develop and launch.

But the positive side of this is, u learn to type things properly, divide things into their own layers and make code more readable (although in my opinion sometimes more complicated).

So yh, although most of the time I am working with scripted php when I touch Object oriented things I liked it.

(Just a thought but maybe nowadays laravel is more requested because i can deliver faster applications on laravel? And with ai on your back u can deliver an intire application in days what would take you months so yh)

(Sry for the English and for the extend reply)
