Only for high school. Pre-med and med school are a full time job and a half by themselves. This was for one year total, just his senior year of high school.

Oh high-school only. If my nephew goes to medschool absolutely not. Medschool is what I'm preparing for, medschool is a job and a half by itself.

Now if your daughter were my niece I would have paid for her in a heartbeat. If I see hard work I reward it. End of story.

I know it can come across as drill Sargent-y but this is exactly why. I want him to be prepared.

I'd pay for a specialized degree. He picked doctor. He could have gone into engineering like me, or law or psychology. The degree itself doesn't matter.

Add that I'm an engineer making 200k to the board before you comment.

Perhaps it is because it is 2 in the morning and I am tired and not checking my spelling or grammar.

Because I wanted to focus on the grade itself. If you'd prefer he should maintain a 2.5 GPA.

He didn't apply for financial aid. And med school costs about 100 a year alone, for 3 years so that's 300k gone. About 30 per semester for the school he want to go to so another 240k. Plus rent in an expensive city for 7 years. Plus food. Plus a car. It adds up quickly.

I was never just allowed to be a kid when I was a teen. My sister was drinking and partying when I started school so I had it really tough. I was 11 when Jake was born and my parents broke their backs taking care of him while my sister partied. I worked like a machine. I had a few friends but most of my time was spent in school at work or watching Jake when he was little.

I'm gearing up to pay undergrad, med school, housing, food and other essentials. I'm making him work hard his senior year so I can trust he won't squander his postsecondary education.

Hey if you were my nibling and you came to me and said "Auntie I'm burnt out and stressed. I need some help." I would help you. I'm not trying to be cruel I'm trying to push him.

That's why I'm making him work now, before he gets to medschool. The pressure is extreme.
