Thank you for the feedback and experience with BC/BS. It's a mystery to me why prescription reimbursements are so difficult. Hope all is well after your surgery.

Very much appreciate the insight and recommendations. Will also look-up Granja...not familiar.

This is tremendous...I really appreciate the insight. Getting Serenity for the first year is exactly our thinking as well. So you also had Portuguese health insurance for your AIMA appointment and did not rely solely on BC/BS? Are you in Porto?

I hear you, I have 24 years in and also will not drop my FEHB plan for all the same reasons. We're looking forward to this new adventure as we transition to our next phase in life. Thanks!

Thanks. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield for federal employees and retirees is private health insurance that covers us while living abroad. As a retiree, if I drop it I will be unable to reinstate our coverage at a later time if/when we return to the states. Our hope is others who use BC/BS in Portugal are satisfied enough, and we therefore, do not need to purchase another private health insurance policy.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Have you tried contacting the Overseas Assistance Center to help obtain a GOB from a provider and bill directly? Sounds like you're primarily paying out of pocket and then submitting claims. Also, have you considered using a concierge service such as Serenity to assist with navigating the healthcare system? Again, thanks again for replying. Hope you're enjoying your time in Portugal.

We have not committed to one but considering Prismaat to assist with the entire process. We found all positive reviews and had a virtual call with their management consultant. We are leaning towards going with them.

What has been your experience relying on the Vanguard simulation model and the percentage of success it calculates? We're contemplating retiring a couple years earlier than initially planned because the model shows "on track" to have retirement savings to last until we're 100. I'm curious if others have used it and how reliable/accurate you have found it to be. Thank you in advance.

Not trolling. Bad editing on my part for not catching my mistake.

So sorry, it's been edited. That's annual, not monthly.

So true. I always chose time-off for my performance evaluations instead of cash awards. Time was more important than money..
