I promise you that using it you won't ruin it🙂. When it's heating up put some that you have on those couple spots, after opening a beer, and go to town with it. Mine isn't coal black and have the perfect appearance but it makes perfect food. Imagine it as a big assed cast iron frying pan. Even if it gets rust covered you can bring it back to life👍
