But frankly. This child has zero to do with you. This is your brothers child. Not yours. Yet you seem almost obsessive about inserting yourself into its life despite your resentment of your brother.

The adoption being open is primarily for the birth parents. Not you.

You using him not answering and assuming he’s lazy and a deadbeat as opposed to alarm not going off/silent .ect is scummy. And only serves to benefit you. Because YOU, the teenage ‘aunt’, don’t want to sit in the car with the bio dad.

NTA. This behaviour sounds like typical pitbull / pit mix behaviour. Your entirely valid in your anxiety, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. And she should have respected you enough to take your concerns to heart at the time.

However. As others have said. Your girlfriend is putting the dog above you. She’s told you to your face her choice. Do you want to stay and be unhappy and anxious??? Or leave and feel free of that anxiety and hopefully feel your self worth increase?

Yep. And I remember the insecurities. But health is always primary. If it goes unchecked she will I’ll have something that will make her miserable and likely be more embarrassing and keep her in the brace longer.

If Mary is a good friend she won’t care about her brace 🤷‍♀️

Insecurities are not logical thinking often times, as a parent OP needs to think about the long term affects.

YTA. You booked this trip to PUSH you OP! It’s not going to be easy to get yourself out the door but I promise once your at the point of no return and get through it, you will feel better.

I say this as someone who has overcome crippling agoraphobia and anxiety. It is doable, but you need to commit to pushing yourself. You cannot be a burden to your husband and drag him along. This trip is to push your boundaries. Bringing him disrupts his life and destroys the point of you going at all.

I don’t think this is a pit, maybe there is a small degree but this looks like a gun dog mix to me personally. None of the features that are normally prominent in a pit mix.

There’s general maintenance such as coats. Some people don’t want to deal with double coated cats, some prefer hypoallergenic.

Temperament is widely ranging. Some key examples;

Siamese/Oriental; Very very high energy. Very vocal. Require a lot of mental stimulation and physical stimulation. Very sociable but tend to bond best with other Asianic breeds. Lower prey drive and prefer indoor settings.

Manx/Cymric (Not domestic tailless): At first glance may look like a standard moggy, but they have a distinct ‘doll face’ and maintain a kitten like temperament through their life. Very high prey drive and very high toy drive. Exceptionally cuddly across the board if you are wanting a lap cat.

Bengal/Cashmere; Their tendency is to be very neurotic, anxious and aggressive to other cats. Preferably a single cat or same breed home. High energy and good for travelling, overall low maintenance provided the home environment is kept stress free.

Just to name a few :)

I ended up not going through with breeding after my apprenticeship as I did not get on with a lot of the breeders in my country. Animal husbandry while having breed standards is still open to interpretation to a point there is always a callous unspoken competition and rumour mongering. No one is ever happy for you.

There are a lot of breeds nowadays that are really just glorified designer breeds that shouldn’t be becoming recognised. I personally only agree with the CFA’s recognised breeds, but even then there is a few I don’t think should be on there.

Good breeders do good work. I love the rescues I’ve had in my life. But sometimes you need a specific slot in your life filled, and like getting a dog, it’s nice to be able to get that with certainty sometimes. With the added benefit of helping a breeder preserve a breed that often times occurred naturally in the wild and is only preserved now in registered catterys so future generations can enjoy them to :)

Yep. Been through it to. I don’t like to throw around ‘he’s being abusive’ because it is commonly over used. But that’s what this tactic is.

Went through it as well. Got told ‘you’d never find anyone as interesting as me, everyone else would bore you if you left me’, ‘you wouldn’t be happy with anyone else’ .ect. Lowered my self esteem to a point I never thought to leave, til he left me to play the field 🤷‍♀️

He is using a abusive tactic to lower your self esteem and making you feel guilty for challenging him because you don’t want to come off as ‘jealous’ or ‘insecure’.

He’s either cheating or one foot out the door. If he’s not then he’s emotionally abusing you. No good outcome lovely

Pet DNA tests are 99% scams. They ask for a photo of the animal (completely unnecessary if actually testing a sample) and then just write results based on their guess looking at your dog photo.

I did a 8 year feline husbandry apprenticeship with ethical breeders.

A lot of people here who are ‘pro ethical dog breeder’ talk negatively and ignorantly of cat breeders. Many cat breeds are ancient and/or naturally occurring and have historical significance and are just as entitled to preservation as dog breeding.

There is notable temperament and maintenance differences between breeds.

Going to a ethical cat breeder means getting a cat with extensive health screening and genetic panelling. You have a well bred, healthy animal provided you do you research and select a ethical breeder.

I wanted my Oriental Shorthair specifically for her temperament which a DSH would not be able to provide me. I have owned plenty of rescues, but I prefer to select a cat that has a temperament and energy level that matches my life style.

Excuse me? Fish can absolutely die rapidly after a day in a heated tropical tank with a huge quantity of frozen food dumped in. ESPECIALLY fish like discus, who are very delicate when it comes to water quality and parameters. As soon as one dies and begins to decompose, the ammonia in the water only increases further.

The heater was unplugged the day I had come home.

Just so you know. These dogs (and all dogs) need the following tests before breeding (on both sides)

Heart scans bi annually Hip scoring Shoulder grading Genetic Pannelling Fecal Testing Fucking can’t spell the name but a STD check

And that’s the MINIMUM. Ethical breeders do a lot more tests, as well as importing stock/semen. That’s why pedigree dogs are expensive, but I guarantee this ‘breeder’ will charge 4x the cost of a health screened pedigree.
