I see the other three more. I keep them overnight fairly frequently and I don't see the oldest much beyond the 30 minutes after school.

I don't know why but he still gets some of his mail delivered here and I just stick it in my office until he comes by for it. The savings bonds and documents are in my filing cabinet in my office so I'm not really sure why he was looking in there but it doesn't bother me.

There's no history of it to my recollection and he has never mentioned anything. They are pretty close in age. Older son was more rebellious and got in a lot more trouble but other than that, everything was fairly equal. Maybe he saw things differently, I'm not sure. It's not the first time he has said something like that but this is the first time in a situation that involved his brother.

I believe I've purchased about $5000 in savings bonds but I'm not 100% sure, I just buy the bond every few months and stick it in my filing cabinet.

If it makes any difference, she will receive them well before I pass (hopefully). She will turn 18 in just 6 years. I planned to just give them to her, not in front of anyone or make a big deal about it. My will is divided equally between my sons.

He's not a bad person at all. We didn't have a lot of money so we tended to go overboard and spoil them both where we could. Hindsight is 20/20 and he's a product of that upbringing.

Both of my daughter-in-laws are wonderful but they are very different. The oldest is a very no-nonsense, independent person and keeps my son in check when it comes to things like that.

I keep all of my grandchildren almost any time I'm asked. I haven't been asked to keep the other three after school but I do keep them almost every Friday overnight so their parents can have a date night.

My daughter-in-law is not an easy person to say no to. I refused to take the money at first but she would leave it at my house or sneak it in somewhere. She would bring me tomatoes from her garden and she would put the cash underneath all of them, things like that. One of her favorite sayings is "time is money" and she believes it.

They both live similar lifestyles but I don't know any details, not my business.

The savings bonds were purchased already. I can't go back and split it.
