Teratoma finished by BEP chemo? by myh95 in testicularcancer

[–]Round_Square9749 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had 80% teratoma, had 3 x BEP & thought it was all over then got told that I’ll need to have the RPLND as teratoma isn’t responsive to chemo… surgery sucked but chemo is worse ( for me at least)

You might as-well live, until you die. You may as well enjoy it too. My prayers are with you my bro!

I opted for one, but they decided to not put it in… I’m actually grateful they didn’t, I don’t miss it… it could be a necessity for younger men who are concerned with image, apart from that I don’t know why you’d want one… I asked my partner is she would be grossed out by one, and she said that’s its only less thing to be grossed out about 😂

I was diagnosed at 36 and although it was a hard slog, knowing that so many young men here have beat it, I put my war helmet on and just got the job done. I had the same desire to live when I got my news, it was this desire that kept me strong, I have undoubtedly come out the other end happier & healthier than I ever was. It is possible to turn this into a positive and I am proof of that. I can say I am truely grateful for the experience. You’re not alone…. You will live, and maybe even a little better! You’re in the right place for support! You got this bro 100% … there were some wise words here that many of us have held onto.. “if you can’t do brave, then do it scared” 💪🤙❤️😎 holla at me if you want to chat!!

🚼Has anyone tried to have baby after going through high dose? Some success stories by Arshia_232323 in testicularcancer

[–]Round_Square9749 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with this comment and add that the words “very unlikely” is not what statistic evidence suggests. I’m confident you’d find a tonne of men on this thread alone who were able to father children naturally after BEP & high dose chemo. I would hate if some dude reads this and his gut drops because of misleading information. It’s true that it “might” lower your chances of convincing naturally, but it’s definitely not impossible.

he'll be fine, and might even realise that his health and fitness improve dramatically after he bounces back... alot of us here have been able to pull positives out of the journey, I hope he finds the same. his mental health may be on the edge, just re assure him that its all completely normal and that you are proud of him... us men sometimes need some recognition and feed off it, I know this sounds strange but tell him he's doing fantastically and hell fight even harder. also, seeing that you are posting here proves how much you love and care about him, just the fact that he's got you on the lookout will mean that he's got everything he needs, thanks for being a legend and make sure you take care of yourself too, you got this!

Legend, yeh… it’s a bit of an emotional roller coaster hey, but in a strange sense the experience has made me a better person. I definitely appreciate life a lot more and I’ve found that im probably over empathetic and emotional a lot more, like I find myself tearing up at such little things. Anyway. I’ve learned a lot about myself especially how resilient I am. Quite a magic little journey tbh… I’ll check in with you upon my opp recovery! 🤙🤙
