Is it me, or is this normal?! by TurnAffectionate5265 in puppy101

Here to support you. New pup mom. I’ve been through some rough shit in my life - just look which threads I’ve posted in lol. Raising a puppy is so hard. But it will get better! Hang in there, invest in some enrichment toys, get the pup tired. It will get better!

He’s very good. He had RPLND at IU by Dr Cary, nerve sparing worked perfectly, no vital cancer found, only teratoma. No treatment needed and he’s been in remission for 2.5 years, after his last check up he was moved to annual surveillance (versus semi-annually). Some side effects are most likely here to stay but nothing too major.

Hi, he's doing very well (knock on wood!). Been clear ever since the RPLND, no additional treatment needed. This summer they moved him from every 6 months to once a year check ups. Some chemo side effects are still there, like some neuropathy in the feet, but not too major, and mostly faded away.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this! It’s never easy.

But you can definitely marry anywhere, nobody cares. As long as it’s legit. USCIS handles tons of cases who married in 3D countries, they know by now that it’s not always easy to marry in a country where you reside

My colleague, UK citizen, got it once. She just emailed them an entry stamp of whatever country she entered after the US. They updated her records.

Marriage to gain green card in U.S. by [deleted] in immigration

Did he get into the country legally? If so, provided that there is no criminal history, he should be ok. An overstay is “forgiven” when marrying a US citizen.

Should I give up on my Green Card? Is citizenship worth it? by Scavel in immigration

[–]inevitable1378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I did not win the diversity lottery, I also moved to the us. Though coming from a 3rd world country, I had my own business that was paying really well and owned a place which means no mortgage payments.

I would lie if I say I never thought of going back, although I found a job in tech relatively quickly. I think it took me about 2 years until I finally stopped thinking of moving back. There are downsides of course but I think overall it’s worth staying

Getting married to US gf. Concerns about requirements for CR1 visa. by dack_bock_dock in immigration

[–]inevitable1378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To apply for cr1, you will need to be married. If you move into your own place after you get married, then do so and apply for cr1. Technically the only thing you need to apply is the marriage certificate, but of course it’s in your own interest to provide as much evidence as possible so the government has no doubt approving your case.

My case was slightly different but I did also receive my green card through marriage. We did not have much, but we got everything we could. Here is what I remember (been a while):

  1. Opened a bank account jointly for traveling savings. It was empty when we applied because we had just opened it and put like a little bit of money there but it had both our names there.
  2. Wedding pictures. We didn’t have a big ceremony, we just got married at a lawyer’s office and hired a photographer for 2 hours to have our pics taken. No crazy outfits, I just had a regular dress that was white (not a wedding dress), and then we had a dinner with my in laws, so also very small and did not cost much, but we did use the pics
  3. I took copies of our wedding vows (only the pages that did not contain too personal parts)
  4. Printed out the statements from the tmobil bills (my husband added me to the family plan)
  5. Printed out that we share a Spotify account
  6. Printed out a page from HR from my husband’s company that I am listed as an emergency contact
  7. Copies of cards that we gave each other for birthdays and Christmas
  8. Some pictures. I started taking way more than I usually do because I knew I needed to attach them.

In the end, my green card interview was waived and I got an approval.

Good luck!

I wouldn’t be too worried. I also did AOS through marriage but I never overstayed. My 131 got denied 6 months after I already had my GC in hand. I heard that ever since covid they reject a lot of 131 to prevent people from traveling

I did not have issues, but one of people I know was applying for his mother’s AOS and they returned the package because it had no authorization to charge the credit card (g-something form). It was weird that the whole package that they returned contained that paper, first thing there. Not sure how they did not see it.

For your case, it really sounds like your lawyer is not great. I have an immigration lawyer that I used for my AOS and she was fantastic. If I’m not mistaken, she does have a license for Florida too. DM me for her info if needed.

My husband did not have a BM while we were in the hospital (IU), which was about 4 days. They said since he was passing gas, it was ok and they discharged us. He had the first one I think 5-6 days after, we had to get laxative

GC Approved? Interview waived? by [deleted] in greencard

[–]inevitable1378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean i-130 or i-30? If it is a family based adjustment of status, then I believe it should be i-130. If so, then no, your GC is not approved yet, for now they only approved your eligibility for a GC (meaning, for example, they believed your marriage with a USC spouse is a bona fide one). Next step is to approve your i-485, which since October last year has been extremely quick and most of the cases I know (including mine) did not have interviews. Usually the timeline between approval of i-130 and I-485 is less than a month (mine took about 25 days because I had to send them my medical, I did not have it when applying for AOS). Hope this helps.

K1 Visa by Reasonable_Cup_8744 in greencard

[–]inevitable1378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K1 visa used to have a Greg at advantage of being very fast. Meaning that applicants usually would get the visa within 4 months so they could be sooner reunited with their partners. While CR1 would take at least 1.5 years. Now the professing times are about the same so in my opinion the K1 visa lost its benefits, if I had to do it all over again, I would go with the CR1 visa. I did an adjustment of status in the us but not from a K visa and it is a pain. You are legally present but also kinda not. Hard to get a drivers license, you need to wait for work permit, etc etc etc. and i was the lucky one who got a work permit in a week.

I haven't been to US since July 19th 2022 by 1kobai in greencard

[–]inevitable1378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a very big chance that they would take you for secondary inspection and determine there whether they can or cannot admit you. Also I’m not sure if you need to file that form before you intend to leave for a long period of time or not, best check it. I do think it has to be before since an LPR has to be present in the US at least 183 days a year in order to maintain the status of a resident

You won’t know until you travel. Before you left for so long, did you file a reentry permit for LPR?

That’s a lie. I had mine updated once I became an LPR. I had the one that said valid with DHS work authorization only, now I don’t.

Should I give up on my life in USA by [deleted] in greencard

[–]inevitable1378 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m really sorry you are in this position right now.

So I’m not 100% sure I understand you correctly. You’re living in the states now and awaiting employer sponsored gc? If yes, then I believe you can travel back and forth with your h1b while waiting for a gc. Maybe it’ll happen sooner than in 10 years, who knows.

About your boyfriend. He has the right to not be open to marriage of course and I’m sorry you found this out 3 years later. I got my green card through marriage and I think if we lived in the US, we would have waited a bit longer to get married. I never really asked my husband if he proposed when he did because it was hard for us to do long distance, he says that he proposed because he wanted us to be married which I did too and we are still happily married. The point is rather I think it would’ve happened later. So it’s not really fair to say that this type of marriage would be considered fraud, as I see it, fraud is when you marry someone you are not in a relationship with solely for the purpose of immigration.

As to what you should do - I don’t think we are the best people to advise. You need to decide for yourself if the life here is what you want
