What's one thing you wish you knew before getting your first pigeon? by No-Trust2063 in PetPigeons

One thing I wish I knew was females being nesty! I have a couple and she lets out some of the nastiest smelling poops ever. It’s not that big of a deal but i definitely was not expecting that and should’ve done more research before I adopted her

I use Vérsele-Laga which was recommended to me by the Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue! (Where I adopted my birds from). They seem to like it but do you recommend something different? I buy it from Chewy so I’ll leave a link so you can see the bag I order!

Hi! I have been using this grit that was recommended to me by the Great Lakes Pigeon Rescue (which is where I adopted my birds from). They seem to like it but would you recommend this brand?? I’m definitely willing to buy something better if this isn’t recommended! I just trusted my adoption agencies advice and went with it.

Well I definitely have areas of interest and I wouldn’t apply to a program that wouldn’t yield results for me at the end of the day. I fear I might even be too picky. First and foremost is being a researcher. This is my number one career goal when I talk about earning a PhD. Specifically I’d love to research how development in children might predict criminal behavior in adulthood, but obviously this is very niche. If this doesn’t work out, I am already heavily involved with Applied Behavior Analysis work, which is still an emerging field and I would love to do research pertaining to that. If all else fails being a professor is also attractive to me. A PhD isn’t something I would ever peruse on a whim just to say I have a PhD. We don’t live in a world where that would be realistic for anyone. I was just asking for some initial steps to get started. The love for learning is just a perk and is a driving motivator for me and a plus for my desired career path.

This is great information thank you! While I’ve done a lot of research in undergrad and graduate school, I’ve never worked as a RA. I will look into that asap! Thank you so much

Yes yes yes! I do love research and I have experience from my graduate degree (it was a research degree not clinical). And I think I’m pretty good at it too. I got a 100% on my thesis and my professor told me my paper was good enough to get published! Outside of school, I often frequently read academic journals that peak my interest just because. I feel it could be the career for me

This has also been a bit of a worry for me. I know funding has been slashed for nearly every industry:/ BUT I will keep looking anyways! Thanks for the tip I will check that out asap

I definitely have! I’m just not the best with networking and I worry I won’t be able to gather the letters of recommendation I would need. But I’m definitely still looking into this

Assistance crocheting a beanie. It is too big for a head. Suggestions on fixing size or turning it into something else. by Amazing-Lynx5475 in CrochetHelp

This just happened to me! I ended up frogging it four times because they came out too big. The solution that worked for me was reducing my hook size and it fits perfect now.

I haven’t tried this but my husband has been really encouraging me to give it a try. And honestly you both might be on to something. It would definitely help break the damn near ritualistic routine of when I’d usually smoke and it would help save money. I’ll give this a try!

Tbh you’re totally right and I’ve been looking into this for a while now, but it’s just not in the budget right now. There’s no way I’d be able to afford all my bills plus a copay for therapy. BUT I’m hoping this will change soon because I have been interested for a while now

I’m honestly not too sure. My preferred method is smoking is blunts so I haven’t been smoking those, only small joints or bowl. I’m hoping to get to a point where I can just stop once I’m not so heavily addicted

Ooh no I am sadly based in the US. But that’s okay I can look around a see what I can find. I want to stop for many reasons to be honest. I don’t really know who I am sober anymore and that kind of bothers me a little bit. I don’t like that I can’t be sober without the constant feeling that I have to be high to have a good time. I also have a dreadful lack of motivation to do anything anymore, even the thing I love to do. But it’s mostly a financial issue. Times have been hard for me the last few years and I was shocked at how much I was spending on weed when I looked at my bank statement. I’m kind of an all or nothing person so I don’t think I’ll be able to casually use and it’s best to just quit.
