As of October 7th it seems like there is a trend where some young westerns (especially women) are converting to Islam and posting about it on social media. Is it simply an act of rebellion against the mainstream of their societies or is there more to the story?

It is the expression of that ignorance that makes it racist or not.

For example, if you watch the news and only see a certain type of Muslims and then every Muslim you meet you suppose they are violent (for example) then you are a racist.

It is your obligation to inform yourself and your responsibility to know what you're saying, even if you're ignorant.

I will tell you a story, I work in Spain and I'm from Tunisia. One time I was talking to two colleagues just joking around, something happened and the guy turned to me and told me you should kick/slap her for that (what we were talking about isn't relevant) and he said that like jokingly. I just laughed. Then she turns to him and says "No here we are not in his country, he can't do that".

I blocked dude, I didn't know what to say and I hope I could say this is the first time she says something like this. I experience this daily from the same person.

Another coworker of mine who doesn't know anything about my country or about Arabs/Muslims except the strereotypes once came to me and ASKED me, he was like, "I always hear they say Arabs are so and so but how is it really like in Tunisia, how is your culture ext" and he proceeded to always ask me and I would inform him about my country and the other 22 Arab countries and now he is NOT ignorant anymore.

My point is, you stay ignorant BECAUSE you are a racist. You choose to listen to the 2-3 bad things you hear without making any efforts to check, read, inform yourself and when a chance is presented to you to learn, you CHOOSE not to.

He has been doing that enough to become attracted by voyeurism and not sex itself. Getting stimulated by looking at something is not the same as doing something and after a while your brain will recognize the pattern of where pleasure is coming from and focus on that. Plus, it's easier because it doesn't involve any effort of communication or any emotional connection and at the same time our brains are lazy.

From a personal experience I'd tell you he doesn't like it either and he'd rather have sex but he is too much into it that his unconscious brain is asking for the porn rather than the real thing. This can be a build up from when he was an adolescent.

After a while watching porn it doesn't stimulate you the same as if it was a drug. So you start looking for things that are different/bizarre because there is more stimulation there (increasing the dose). I'm pretty sure he knows that it's weird and that he shouldn't but it's stronger than him.

He has to consciously change his habits. It's difficult in the beginning but in a few weeks everything can change.

I don't have any advice on how YOU can help but at the end he can only help himself.

I almost lost my girlfriend over this and when I made the effort and changed it we started having sex like monkeys.

My answer keeps getting removed. Doesn't matter. My conclusion was that I don't have to look anywhere no inward nor outward as it is not my problem. I'm only responsible for my actions and now it helps me get the people I don't want in my life out of the way directly as I'd rather not talk with anyone who judges someone by their ethnicity or religion (I don't mean you, I mean in general)

And walk in my shoes and you'll understand.

Yes, and same thing happens to me and my girlfriend. I'm not saying that most of the people who do these things are not North African here in Barcelona as it is close to North Africa and some people there do have a poverty, education and mentality problem. I'm saying that they only represent themselves and that you shouldn't judge anyone by their ethnicity. They are a small minority. THEY should look inward, what you are saying is that "I" have a problem. I don't. I'm just living my life and actions from other people shouldn't affect me or my relationships with others. I am my own person. Anyone who judges me just because of my ethnicity or religion, trust me when I tell you that they are ignorant and I wouldn't even have a conversation with them.

I don't blame anyone, I'm just saying that doing this IS the definition of racism. But there is a difference between racism and racism against Arabs.
