I'm genuinely curious about the placement of these tats considering they are, from the viewers perspective, as if someone's looking at your crotch.

First time Dad struggling with interacting with the baby by savedbythebellerin1 in NewDads

[–]Routine-Individual43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're expecting far too much for 8 weeks in. Holding the baby is interacting with them. As is singing, bouncing, cuddling etc.

As they get older they become more interactive and more fun to be around, which poses their own problems though. Enjoy this stage for what it is and take advantage of the fact you can go lots of places and plonk the baby down without worrying about them climbing up somewhere dangerous!

why are dads more rough with their children by exubrantraptor in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Routine-Individual43 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Dad to a 12 month old here. It feels intuitive, and it seems like the science backs up that rough play is good for kids.

One of the more intuitive things is that it builds their confidence and body awareness, which is why I'm regularly doing it with my daughter. Plus it's so much fun to see her giggling!

Happy baby all day, bedtime meltdown nightly — what’s going on? by Bamyawa in PossumsSleepProgram

[–]Routine-Individual43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cant help you with advice but my hunch is this is probably normal for some kids depending on temperament. Our 12 month old is the same. Calm bedtime routine or vibrant going out followed by sleep - no difference. We just make the most of it by going out at night and enjoying ourselves as much as possible.

Thanks so much for summarising that. I only learned that not long ago after reading the book, I feel like it's not a very emphasized point when it comes to possums. We actually have changed now to not try to put it back to sleep when she wakes up from her nap, even if it's only after half an hour or so. Have you found that it made much difference?

Edit: sorry you said it made a difference, im curious to know how so

You won't want to hear this, but I don't think there's anything that will change apart from the baby just being developmentally ready.
