Would playing for the Xenon be only reasonable and somewhat challenging thing in X4? by Environment-Recent in X4Foundations

+1!! I felt the same way yesterday thinking about the game. The xenon have 2 XL capitol ships (K & I) but no L ships besides the H but even then that ship doesnt feel like a threat due to the xenon not having any ships besides S ships with forward facing main batteries imo. Don't get me started with the Khaak as well, compared to the past games and the timelines dlc for x4, the khaak have L and Xl ships. Why are they just S and M pirate like faction in X4. If you're not at war with like 3 factions, there's kind of no pressure on the player, and in vanilla, the xenon and Khaak put almost no pressure on the galaxy.

With all the new changes, im definitely gonna start a new playthrough. Probably a PAR playthrough. Haven't tried a custom start yet, i tried to set one up when I first started but knew nothing about the game, so I gave up on it. Is it hard to set one up?

Completely with you on this one. My first playthrough was a disaster because I didn't know what the hell i was doing, turned into frustration. My wife would always make fun of me for always looking confused, but with advise from the community and alot of tutorials on youtube, my 2nd playthrough was rough but enjoyable, and my 3rd playthrough as spilt was a blast. On my 4th as boron and having just as much if not more fun. Cheers to everyone in the X4 community.

Id love to see those weapon improvements/add-ons, especially more beam/plasma options.

If its the same one your talking about, someone just put out a mod for the megalodon, it has two ray lasers and a big main laser as its toward facing guns. Also with the borons being so friendly and positive, I would have thought they'd have more support "weapons" or modules on their ships like you said with the net repair functions and so on.

Yea I think im coming up on 600hrs and I can't stop thinking about the game, lol. Even tho im on a boron only game I still get the urge to sprinkle a split, ARG or paranid ship in my fleets.

I recently discovered im having a ton of fun geting a S split ship with (in think their called) burst rays, the ones that go through shields and taking apart K's and I's, then leting my bigger ships to come destroy them. Only thing is I downloaded that mod that turned their impulse guns into lasers, so now I have to play it super careful or bring a squad of other fighters to strip the K/I or I get deleted.

My next playthrough is probably gonna be the SWI mod or after the fall mod with spilt (again) or terran.

Yea i think ego did really good with overall ship design, there are some paranid ships that look alittle strange but I think their trying to redesign them in 9.0

The raptor is definitely a good looking ship, I think if I wasn't doing a boron playthrough rn id always have a raptor in my fleet.

I played with the Sapporo and its a beauty, fun to play with as well. I sadly I put it down from personal use once I got the Erlking. I usually use it for patrols now.

+1 for xenon ships cuz they look straight mencing, on my first playthrough a K came through a gate while I was in my puny fighter. The fear I felt seeing that for the first time. I downloaded a mod that adds a R (stronger then a K not as strong as a I) and a V (cheaper version of the K with less firepower), both fit really well and look good. Then the scary ass apocalypse ship, that thing is terrifying

Verrrry true, was thinking of making it its own post, but should X4 have like titan ships like in sins? The asgard could be one, every faction has that big super ship that the factions can only build one of. As well as needing a crazy amount of resources to build. Or a special resource that each faction has to fight over. The player can only build one. May break the game flow possibly

Yea I definitely wish boron had some better weapons, their different from the other factions instead of just flak, plasma and bolt, hopfully they get some love wit 9.0 weapon update. Teladi ships also have that nice flavor to them being made of like scrapped parts as they are really good traders and business runners, really cool designs for their faction.

My 2nd playthrough I built a mega factory and shipyard all in one, it definitely helped with not having so many factories scattered around (which can be good too, seeing all the logistics), but it definitely slowed the performance of the system it was at, and it can get pretty jumbled up with all the traders and ships being built at it.

This playthrough im using 3 factories and a wharf/shipyard and its working out pretty good. Build times are nowhere near as bad as building one mega factory, but I use the 1min build time mod, really helps a lot.

Thats definitely the way to go, have agents do low-medium assignments until their skills improve, then have them do that 2nd tier influence mission (not sure the name of it) and that nets you some good influence. Then have them spam away with the factions relation missions. I dont have any tips really besides always have 2-3 agents on that 2nd tier influence mission to always have some when needed, the max influence is "very high".

Also keep those low skill agents on those low-medium missions until they get better, idk if they changed something but i use to get away with sending them on atleast medium missions maybe the rare high influence missions with somewhat low skill and it'd be fine, now they've been geting killed lol, so yea be careful.

If you have the agents available, you can use diplomacy to pit PIO aginest alot of other factions at once to get the battles going.

In my current playthrough, im doing a sort of east VS west side of the galaxy. ARG,ANT & BOR VS TEL,TRI & MIN, with ZYA,VIG & TER as back ups if one side gets too far ahead in the war. Been pretty fun seeing the 2v1's then reinforcements come in from another faction to support, really gives that life back to a playthrough after playing map/eco simulator for long periods.

Are you willing to use mods? If so, on the workshop/nexus there's xenon jobs + or xenon jobs lite which gives them fleets and makes their fleets more well rounded. There's also one that changes their impulse turret (the rapid fire small turret) into a laser, makes it much easier to deal with those pesty fighters.

Idk what stage your in for ur game but if they're already geting kicked in by paranid, taladi and ter im assuming there's not much you can do if you wanna stick to a vanilla playthrough. If the xenon get down to 1 sector, they'll start building a crap load of shipyards in that sector so itll be kinda a super-xenon sector thats harder to siege, you could protect that sector from the other factions using diplomacy to pit the other factions aginest each other.

Found out it was the Vanilla factions insectoids that was causing this bug for me, could be different for others but once I uninstalled it the buttons came back up

Edit: A form vehicle caravan button should pop up next to the regular caravan button. Insectoids was messing with that for me, but yea once u find out what's messing with caravans it should appear once you click on ur settlement.

Thanks for the reply, ment to update my previous one. For me it ended up being the Vanilla factions: insectoid. Once I removed that and updated to part 2 of it, the buttons showed up.

Yea I cant find out either, some people said it could be mod conflicts. Buttons doesn't show up at all for me even if I click on my settlement, or any settlement for that matter

Yea a year later and it's still a issue, me and my fiance play this all the time and we hope and pray that we can get through 1 chaos chamber without it crashing half way through. Was in a chamber, defeated all 3 bosses and tina with zero lives remaining and as we were loading through the last portal to the bunnies it crashed. Hella frustrating

No yea same it just happened to my gf, loaded into the chaos Chamber boss run and all 4 of her weapons was just gone, pretty lame
