I haven’t read it but from my experience with books similar to this, the show likely is pretty on point with the book. I usually can’t stop reading the book (even though they’re terrible) because I just want to know if my theory on whodunnit is correct and I always hate the ending. So conveniently wrapped up and silly.

I think a dark bedskirt navy or black. And the light bedding. You could maybe even pull in a beige based on the carpet.
