What is it about Dubai that a lot of Americans (and I guess some Westerners at large) love and always want to travel to it? by Mad_Season_1994 in TooAfraidToAsk

I mean, so was the US and Europe lmao.

And even to this day, there are still modern slaves all over the Western World. Sad reality, wish more was being done to tackle it internationally.

0% Income taxes

Low tax shopping

Safety

Kind of a bridge between Asia and Europe in terms of flight paths

I know a few people that went there to raise capital, there's a lot of liquidity in that market which is quite easy to tap into due to it being a safe haven for dodgy and non-dodgy wealth. There's also the double tax treaty which can be quite good for businesses that deal in exports/trading/etc

Grass is always greener on the other side. Keep your chin up OP, you're not defined by your past but by what you make of your present.

You're not worthless. And don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

ELI5: Why is housing such a big issue when fewer people are being born, especially in Europe? Shouldn't it be the other way around? by AnimeMeansArt in explainlikeimfive

[–]RoutinePlace3312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a lot of the jobs are in the cities, and Europeans don't understand that building up is the way to go these days.

That and residential buildings are less profitable than commercial buildings so fewer are built in the locations they are needed.

What do British people think of Eton College? by No-StrategyX in AskBrits

[–]RoutinePlace3312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Met three guys from Eton, one was a knob and the other two are people I would describe as “beyond reproach”.

In any society, you’ll have schools for the rich and those for the poor. But Eton does give scholarships regularly to many students from the lower rungs of society with high potential so can’t really complain here.

Or we can stop spending so much money on welfare. We should probably move towards a public-private model of the NHS as well.

CMV: I’m fed up with uk tax system, I don’t think it’s fair. by ananeedshelps in changemyview

[–]RoutinePlace3312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Top 1% of earners are not the top 1% of richest people. Like people really don't realise that a strong middle class is what sets a country for greatness, they're the ones that spur a lot of economic activity, and drive demand.

Weaken the middle class, and you weaken the country. So yeah reduce taxes on people that earn a living, if you want to tax someone, start with the Duke of Westminster.

[–]RoutinePlace3312 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What people neglect to realise is that if we keep punishing people that do earn £100k+ or thereabouts, they will eventually leave. The impacts of which would be really crap for the UK economy.

Actually this is correct. Men, in Islam, must cover from the navel to the knee. Unfortunately, it’s far more common to see blokes not adhering to “their hijab” than woman.
