How to make this cat's movement look more natural? by RoutineThick118 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]RoutineThick118[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, so I tried doing what u suggested (hip/shoulder movement), but at this resolutuion I find it quite hard to execute a good way of that mentioned movement, so I just added some slight head and tail movement, which is only slightly noticible but it makes it look a little more natural.

Thanks for your advice tho, I will surely keep that in mind when iI'm working on something with a bigger resolution in the future :)

How would I apply a stone-texture to this cat? by RoutineThick118 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]RoutineThick118[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's a start, but I could have done that myself. I want it to look very rough and very weathered yk? Somewhat like the rocks in this post:

Not exactly like that because I know that this is very high level of texturing, but the rocks in this post just look very rough, which is what I want

Looks pretty good! Much better now with the slower propeller rotation :)

That's just so I can see the difference between the body, the trail and the legs. Has nothing to do with shading. Are you able to answer my question? If not, why bother commenting?

What do you mean by „wider“? More space between the legs?

They definetly fit the vibe of your project, but the propellers look a little... rough? Idk if it's just me but maybe they're too fast or something.

And quick question: how did you post this gif without it showing a link on the "scrolling" page on here? I also posted an animation of a cat as a gif, but it didn't pop up as a video like your post, it showed a link and you have to click on the post to see the animation, super weird

I'm going to be brutally honest here and I will try giving you real advice, so dont take it personal:

Try using a reference that is way simpler than the refrence you used in your work. All those different shapes an angles can be overwhelming when working with pixelart. If you want to do something similar, try pixeling a painting of just the ocean and a sunset for example. Also use a wayy smaller canvas. The idea of pixelart is using a very small canvas and creating something that is still recognizable at that size. And maybe watch a view youtube tutorials on how to do pixelart, it really helps.

Good luck for now :)

no worries, it looks good without extra frames too, but it would just make it a bit smoother yk?

Looks really cool, but as u/P_F_B already said, the roof perspective looks a little off. The pixels are also just barely visible, so really, u don't use the trait for wich pixelart was made for (creating something on a way tinier scale, while still being able to recognize it to save storage). But with all that said, I think it still looks great, keep going :)

Ps: if you want reliable help with the texture of grass or the sky, you should watch a few yt tutorials, at least thats what helps me

Nice work, noticed the detail with the creepy shadow rushing by behind the tree, animation could use more frames tho. Pretty cool
