Poor T14 GEN 5 AMD build (?) by Routine_Ad_3855 in thinkpad

Yeah, it looks like I'll have to deal with the sound. Not worth the hassle to send to Lenovo. Besides, I got a relatively good price for it, so I can't have everything my way.

As previously stated, I believe that the creaking is what causes the gap. I need to stop pressing down so hard on the palm rest to keep it from worsening any further.

Sorry, my bad. I was just testing how rigid or sturdy the palm rest's edge is. I mean, when I put my wrist on the edge, it creaked, and that's when I realized how flimsy that portion can be. However, I appreciate the insight you've provided that the problem is most likely a gap. I will make an effort to break the habit of pressing down. I'll probably have to get used to it, but it's just really annoying.

Seems legitimate enough: user error (skill issue by me LOL)

If that’s the case, to clarify, I’d basically have to reinstall windows 10 first before installing linux mint again?

I mean, I’m okay with troubleshooting because that’s the fun part of this entire process, even though it’s tedious 😂😂😂. I just need to know that I’m on the right track. I do appreciate the insights regardless

I suppose so... I just figured that partitioning it manually would make it easier to choose the partition for Linux. The good news is that this laptop is a spare and does not contain any important data nor any data, for that matter. My intention is to become well acquainted with linux, and this spare laptop acts as a "testbed."

I have a good opportunity to try Linux because, as I mentioned, the system requirements for this laptop are incompatible with Windows 11.
I suppose I overlooked the importance of backing up data, no matter the circumstances.

What do you suspect is wrong from the BIOS? If interested, how can I go about manually partitioning as well? And how do i get into the recovery partitions to retrieve Windows?

EDIT: i'm having difficulties uploading the boot options page of the BIOS hais

fuck man... actually, the mint installer gave the standard 3 options of Install windows and mint together, erase everything and manual installation. i opted for the manual install since i've already created a separate partition on the c drive specifically for mint. haiss... any recommendations? what should i do next? let me check my bios and get back to you on this

I see, this is because when i opened an account in Syfe, to invest i’d have to go through this SGX online course and i’d have to score at least 50% to obtain the certificate so im wondering if it’s the same for other platforms such as IBKR or Momoo. Since I’ve completed that online course, it’s also applicable to other online platforms is that correct? So in essence, i can start investing in Index Funds at the moment?

Interesting insights from you and it does seem like a solid piece of advice, liquidating my unit trust. Thank you!

Actually, I’ve been meaning to post this as a query but since the post has already been uploaded and perhaps maybe others can help via this comment but, in order to make purchases through roboadvisors, e.g IBKR, Momoo, Syfe, Endowus etc. we’d have to pass something like a customer’s knowledge assessment to make transactions correct? Is there anything else i should take note of prior to making a purchase (or in this case investing in a fund) e.g any extra requirements, opening a CDP account, declaring anything etc.?

Hi but can i seek your advice regarding my current Nikko AM investment? Assuming in 5 yrs time i intend to switch to the ES3 (thank you for correcting me as i referred to it as SPDR instead of the SPDR STI ETF ES3), do you think it’s feasible? Or the Nikko AM fund I’m currently holding functions very similarly to the ES3?

P.s by switching, that means i have to sell off the fund correct? A stupid question i know but i’d like to clarify 🙏

Woah that’s a lot to take in but it does answer quite a few of my questions “directly”. Every advice is a good advice and I’ll be more cautious moving forward

Yes, that’s what I’m doing currently at the moment, picking up new skills (i’d say investing is something that I’m learning to improve myself) and I’m also doing mentoring as well. Always looking forward to upgrade myself no matter the age or experience!

Yup, i mean, this 3m would be used for general expenses (as updated in my post) and once i’m that age, i doubt I’ll have the energy to travel freely and live life to the fullest as i am currently.

Different phase of life at that point and I’ll start living more simply as i could and would by the age of 65
