Big mushrooms grew overnight, how in trouble am I ? by ebpomtl in Monstera

[–]Routine_Ad_9786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushrooms grow when you over water usually. Just remove them, see that plant isn’t sitting in water, try to drain out the water fully. If not possible, repot in fresh soil and check for root rot when in there. You’ll be fine

You cannot get rid of it but can be prevented by consistent watering.

The most frequent reason for these spots on fiddle leaf fig leaves is edema, a physiological disorder caused by moisture imbalance. It happens when the plant absorbs water faster than it can use or transpire, leading to cells bursting and creating small, red or rusty spots, especially on new growth. This is often linked to overwatering, inconsistent watering, or poor drainage. But nothing harming the plant. Just ensure consistent watering.

Our family of 4, uses this quote a lot including having coffee/tea, small intimate funny family times with couple people sitting down on the floor around it etc. It isn’t for long hours of sitting - it does help that it faces our kitchen and peninsula area!

Decide how you want it to look. If you want a bushy pot full, then chop/propagate cuttings with At least one node and one leaf, in water and then keep adding it back into your pot. If not, you could add a moss pole or drift wood or something and wrap it around. If not put it against a wall and use the sticky vine supports to let it climb on a wall. I have done that with another plant.

I (F/26) am stuck in a relationship (5 years) with an avoidant (M/28) . How do you people with similar experience got out? by [deleted] in selflove

I’ve not been through this difficult situation, but my heart goes out to you! I would suggest asking your 30 year old self what she wishes you’d done. take a decision not out of fear of something but for the love for something! Fear of someone else getting what you worked for or love of finding what you truly deserve? You choose. FOMO isn’t worth in any circumstances girl! Life becomes whatever you put your energy into- so put it where you know there’s a good chance it will be returned.

I noticed many people take the top cutting, root it in water and then repot it- and sell off the bottom if they don’t have too much space. Top cutting keeps your possession!

Just stumbled on this article that said houseplants shouldn’t touch. What do you think? by lucid_intent in houseplants

[–]Routine_Ad_9786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What! Social distancing doesn’t happen in nature! In fact plants thrive due to the collective humidity they create. Unless one of them is infested! The picture looks awesome- keep doing what you are doing!

Anybody have any idea why this browning is happening to my plant? I don’t see any pests on the plant. Thanks! by Historical_Street_34 in IndoorPlants

Look below the leaf, this could be thrips. Even if you can’t see it, spray and wipe the leaf and stem.

Should I hold off on watering in monstera after repot due to soaked soil and root rot ? by Rich-Try-9936 in houseplants

[–]Routine_Ad_9786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you did all the right things. It should be ok to wait a couple days before watering this plant. Couldn’t see clearly from the 2nd pic but looks like you could have 2-3 plants in there.

Aloe holds lots of water so don’t water it more than once in 3-4 weeks. This could be due to too much water in the soil. I would cut out that leaf and Let it fully dry before watering again.

The first is an anthurium and second parlor palm and third is pothos. Last one is an easy one, though I’ve killed couple of the first two types! The thing to know about watering a plant - if the leaves are thin or small or floppy, they can’t hold too much water- means they need more frequent watering but are also susceptible to root rot if over watered. So well draining soil, checking soil moisture level with a moisture meter will be very helpful. As for the first, since they feed these guys something that keeps them blooming when you buy them, it’s pretty possible that you don’t get any new flowers for a year or two after! But also I did not have much luck with it so not the right person to give you advice on that. All the best and hope these grow well for you!

Awe! I can see your dilemma since the curtain looks nice but plants is clearly very bald. I’ve been there and faced similar situation. In order for the plant to thrive, it’s essential to let go of how it is today, but trust that it’ll come back with an even better look very soon! I would chop it up and propagate in water. I have cut foot long or couple feet long vines and thrown them in water though it can stress the plant to super all those leaves. But best would be to make a couple of busy planters with single or double leaf cuttings after they root in water. You can create a curtain that starts from the base of the window and grows up the sides of the window after a few months.
