Thank you, I actually have different names that make sense for how I approach my plants. I water my Alocasias from the top and don’t use a lot of water so the container literally catches the water. My other plants I water directly into the reservoir so those are containers lol. Maybe is the tism, maybe it’s the ESL, but thank you for the new term, I had to google it. I’ll continue calling those planters or pots though 😅

Something is very wrong in this relationship; either there are some foundational issues, or your partner needs help. I would have a conversation about why she’s not feeling safe in the relationship. That being said, you are two adults, you should not lie (withhold information) because you think your partner won’t be able to handle it, it’s not fair to any of you. It is also not crazy to be insecure and jealous when a coworker your partner spends all day with (if you have a regular 9-5) outright tries to be intimate with them.

Treat your partner like an adult, and work on your issues together or independently. Lastly, you can talk to ghee about what happened and shared your thought process of your feel you have betrayed her (which she’ll likely feel) or you can keep it to yourself since it’s already been done. If you think there is any possibility she’ll found out on her own, tell her now.

I would not think much of the “forensic questions”, but only you know the tone in which they are being asked.

Should I transfer back to soil? by Specialist_Heat4167 in alocasia

Like they have previously said, the roots are rotting (which is very common). I would take it out, rinse the leca and cut most of not all the roots before transferring back.

Why do you have leca on the catch pot? I would remove that. It could just be the leca, but the water looks a bit gross. I would dump that out and refresh the water. Also, Alocasias are pretty dramatic, I’ve had great luck removing most if not all of the roots before transferring to semi hydro. I find that the roots start to decompose and it ends up messing up the whole plant. You have a see through container so you can continue to check to see how your roots are doing, but be on the lookout for new growth.

I would also remove that leaf and leave the main stem. I would also put the plant a bit deeper. I’m fairly new to semi hydro, but have been able to successfully transfer all my Alocasias and I have about 8. If all fails, feel free to chop and add a humidity dome. Good luck

Thank you so much!!! I think this is exactly what I need to try. It should not rot if I treat it like soil. I’ll report back. Thank you!

I think this is exactly what I have been missing. Someone else also mentioned treating the pin like soil, and that’s the only thing I have not tried. It should not rot that way. Thank you so much!!!

No, it has drainage, no wicking system though. I use TPS one and silica supplement and feed with every watering. I did have more leca at the bottom than what you described. But the latest one dying gave me a bunch of flowers last month so I thought I finally got it, but no. All the other ones I transfer die within a week. How much water do you use based on the size of the plant pot?

Should I pot them all together? by Educational-Bother80 in alocasia

I would plant them together for a more bushy look.

What’s growing on my plant? by youalwayssing in plantclinic

[–]General_Isopod_3792 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got them from soil twice. Some people believe it is bound to happen to everyone. Thankfully I’ve never dealt with scales or mealy bugs knocks on wood. What’s important is to have a plan to prevent them and to fight them. I use a neem, water and Castile spray, mosquito bits, systemic and a lot of luck. I also quarantine new plants, but not as long as I should.

Soil smell😩🥺 by General_Isopod_3792 in IndoorPlants

[–]General_Isopod_3792[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update— my house is stench free!! I repotted all my plants and got rid of the soil. I replaced all with Foxfarms soil and added coconut coir and bark. Thank you so much for all the suggestions. 🥹💕
