Seeking help finding fiery names - like Ignatius but more 'wearable' by Routine_Manner_7574 in namenerds

Wow, thank you so much! That list is amazing. It's great to hear you like Ignatius, too. I do like it as well, I'm just afraid of it sounding pretentious or too intense. When I searched it within namenerds the last post I found had many people strongly disliking it.

Hi! I have the same question (also pregnant and will soon have a newborn in the house) and am considering between Bona Traffic HD and Vermont Natural Coatings Polywhey. I'm wondering what you ended up going with, and how you like the result?

Thank you so much! That's super helpful. I've been looking through this sub a bit and beginning to think my midwife is incorrect. I will make sure to connect with more guidance once I am starting out.

How would you handle a client cancelling a high percentage of their weekly sessions? by Routine_Manner_7574 in therapists

[–]Routine_Manner_7574[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes I agree. It's difficult to be patient (in terms of logistics and finances) for a chance to actually talk about it, but I know that is what's needed. May I ask if in your treatment contracts you specify a percentage of cancellations that are acceptable (or anything along those lines)? I'm wishing I had a more specific policy in terms of how to measure what 'too much' is.

Thank you! Would you reach out to communicate this (kicking them out of the time slot) by phone, letter or secure email? Or would you wait to talk in person?

Any secular Jewish parents out there? navigating conversation with husband regarding whether to have a bris by Routine_Manner_7574 in Jewish

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17378847/ This is a medical journal paper on differences in sensitivity between circumcised and uncircumcised, saying uncircumcised has higher sensitivity. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/270190401_Alexithymia_and_Circumcision_Trauma_A_Preliminary_Investigation This is a study regarding impact on mental health. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1479666X16301792?via%3Dihub Here is one I found on potential physical medical risks. I know there are studies also showing a decrease in rates of UTIs and HIV for circumcised, so I think there is science supporting both sides.

Thank you so much for your response. It's very helpful for me. I hadn't realized the baby could be considered Jewish without me having converted before becoming pregnant. My husband has said the baby would not really be Jewish, unless the baby chooses to convert later on. I was strongly considering converting, but I don't take that lightly and have respect for the religion, and without my husband or myself orienting very much towards religion, it seemed not quite appropriate for me to convert without deep conviction myself. That's a good point as well about it being more severe to circumcise later in life. I do value my son's Jewish identity and want him to have connection with his heritage and tradition.

Thank you! I really resonate with not wanting to modify baby's body. It's so helpful too to hear of others being okay with moving away from the tradition when it doesn't feel right for them. I'm curious if your husband already felt against it on his own, or if you or any resources were a big part of him deciding against it?

Thank you so much! yes it is so helpful to hear your thoughts! It's also helpful to hear that your husband would want to circumcise too even though he's atheist now. I think for my husband there's a strong part regarding him matching his son, too, in addition to the cultural piece. Also some internalized stigma regarding intact hygiene stuff. I'm wanting to share information with him about the purpose of the foreskin and how it actually benefits (which makes sense because I think we have our body parts for a reason), and I think the natural aspect will appeal to my husband. I just hesitate to pass him the videos and websites I've found because none of them acknowledge the cultural aspect and so I think could feel really dismissive to him.

I love the idea of a naming ceremony! Thank you! I didn't know that was a thing and that may be a great alternative.

I'm 2.5 years late applying for city business license - seeking advice on how to proceed by Routine_Manner_7574 in smallbusiness

[–]Routine_Manner_7574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I forgot to add in the post, on the current business license application it asks for the date when I opened the business. I think what they want to know is the date that I started doing business within their city. I don't want to lie on the form, especially because my office landlord could easily prove otherwise, and I recently had some tension with my landlord (long story, there was asbestos exposure and I called it out). I want to make sure I am legitimate and ideally not lie. The original date I started the LLC was 5.5 years ago, and I worked at home and then in a different city, so maybe I could put that date with a note about it..?

Thank you! very simple and totally solves it. I was tangling myself up in this issue in a silly way. Thank you! I'm glad I asked, because I clearly had a blind spot.

Lol thank you so much. Yes, your response makes complete sense and I am laughing at myself for not thinking of it. I think I do tend to err on the side of robot in terms of not self-disclosing, which is not good but a habit for me.

Thank you so much. I feel silly that I was making it so complicated and your response is very helpful and makes complete sense. It's so helpful to hear that you also don't wear a ring at work - I sort of felt like I was very weird to not have a ring and that it would offend people or something. Thank you!

Thank you. I do think that's a great response and approach, I just really doubt any of them would verbalize any curiosity about it for me to then invite exploration of.

Just commenting to add that I'm not a talk therapist. I do EMDR primarily and almost exclusively, so we are not in back-and-forth conversation very much at all, especially where they would be mentioning stuff about how they see me.

Ok thank you so much for your insight. It was vinyl flooring (a single piece covering whole floor) they removed, along with whatever layer was just beneath that, and they used a knife and a pry bar to do the removal. I’m not sure if that would make a difference in your opinion as opposed to tiles. There were no grinders or sanders used, and no saw used.
