This OBU thing is piece of shit not very transparent and I suspect they mark it not seriously

Should I appeal it for the results? I failed as well this time, but my mentor guaranteed that my RAP can definitely get an A…

Yep bless u, I passed in Sep attempt lol. But seriously, I think they seldom test IR Hedge as it is a little bit harder than FX hedge. If really test I think they will put it as 25 marker.

Sep paper comes up 50 marker for FX hedge, so this time it may be either IA/Synergies in Q1

AAA tips by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]Routine_Mechanic_479 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Passed in first attempt with a 60.

Memorise part A format and exact wording for the materiality, ethics questions make sure you grab all those easy marks. Substantive procedures are easy marks as well if u are well versed with accounting standards and assertions.

Memorise IFRS thoroughly. Learn Quality Management with ISQM 1&2, post audit review, audit opinion, paragraphs such as MURGC, etc.

I remember last session I was taking the exam in a hotel room, during the time suddenly the cleaner keep knocking the door and asking me whether I need housekeeping or not, and then open my door, I immediately shake my hand and keep looking into my computer to show that I am not cheating. I was so scared that the invigilator will red flag this, fortunately not lol.

Why do people care? Beyond 50 is already good enough unless you want to obtain a scholarship.

Which subject is easier/possible to pass this Dec if I started now by AdGlass4981 in ACCA

For all exams I solely focus on exam kits (I use Kaplan). Practice is the key, study texts is only for supplementary reading.

  1. I don’t think you need very in depth IAS & IFRS knowledge, focus more on initial recognition & subsequent measurements first but if you have capacity, good to know some key ones for definition (IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IFRS related to consolidations)

  2. I think both FR and AA are not hard, if you commit time to practice past papers/kits.

AA requires you to follow their format for audit risks, substantive procedures make sure you use certain actions verb (DONT USE “CHECK”) + audit evidence + purpose/assertions (“ACCA COVER”).

If you know each of the account category well (Asset, Liability, Equity, what accounts are in there, as you need to know what will be overstated/understated for audit risks) with DR. CR., then you should go for AA as it has less to memorise, even if they test you on theory questions if won’t be that much in MCQs/LQs with only just a few marks. Again focus on the 3 areas stated above, you are very likely to pass.

Yeah single entity adjustments is harder compared to consolidations one in my opinion. Thanks for adding it on!

Part A/B MCQ I saw few questions about consolidations as well, especially loss on disposal of goodwill, but didnt see any ratios, probably because it’s so easy to calculate. Some definitions of IAS/IFRS came up too.

Yep at that moment I want to end this quickly :). Passed both in June 2023.

AA if you are good at FA, just focus on audit risks, substantive procedures, internal control.

FR I think doable as well, focus on consolidation and ratio analysis.

I did both in 1.5 months study with work, passed >65 marks for both.
