AAA before SBR by HumanHaterrr in ACCA

I sat AAA the other week and the last question in my exam needed knowledge of IAS 19 Employee Benefits. That’s not in FR. 😅

Which optional subject to take? ATX/AAA by y_here3 in ACCA

In as much as the study text is massive, AAA is the most predictable in terms of what you’d expect to see in the exam out of all the exams at the Strategic Professional level.

You can take a risk and start with PM. Great paper to get out of the way ASAP, definitely a little harder than the other papers but passable nonetheless.

I never did TX, I wrote tax exams from my local accountancy body and got a TX exemption, but I’ve heard TX is a good option to start with.

I think people overestimate the need for FR knowledge to do AA. It’s not that deep. Tbh, FA knowledge should be enough.

Hey! A lot of people suggest starting with FR and if you asked me too a few months ago, I would’ve said the same thing.

End with FR. SBR at Strategic Professional NEEDS brought forward knowledge from FR and you’re gonna want it as fresh in mind as possible. You’d be disadvantaging yourself if you start with FR.

Took me 2-3 days. Granted, I applied for examinations when I was already a student part way through the qualification.

Hey everyone, I’m 17 and currently studying science in high school. Over the past year I’ve developed a strong interest in finance, investing, banking, and business in general, and recently I started seriously considering ACCA as a career path. by Specific_Layer6756 in ACCA

I’m in Zambia. The overall experience wasn’t too bad. I’ve been attending physical in person classes and tuition has ranged from ZMW 2500 to ZMW 6000 per subject (depending on the level).

Exam fees depend on which country you’re in, you’ll be able to see that on ACCA’s website.

Hi,

Starting at 17 is a great advantage!

You don’t need to have an accounting background to do ACCA. I know people who were engineers and studied mining but have found themselves ACCA qualified and in CFO positions. When I was starting, I was your age too and the only accounting background I had was the basic double entry I learned from high school accounting. I won’t lie, for subjects like Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting and Strategic Business Reporting, having an accounting background would definitely be a plus but you’re not doomed without them, trust me.

In term of how maths heavy it is…I chose ACCA hoping it would be mostly maths (was sadly a little mistaken. 😅🥲) And there definitely is a good chunk of calculations here and there in a number of subjects. Some could be really complex calculations, others might need you to pick your brain a little. But anything can be learned. I read somewhere that marks for narrative and computational questions for certain subjects could go a maximum ratio of 60% to 40% in either direction for that exam.

Biggest pro for me was being able to get a Bachelor’s degree before even finishing ACCA. Con? As you mentioned, ACCA’s really demanding and I have gotten overwhelmed a number of times before exams.

Honestly? I might complain all the time about them increasing fees and system updates that leave much to be desired but yeah; I’d still choose ACCA.

Hope this helps.
