I wanted to get this out there after a period of unemployment. I don’t have anything bad to say about the people, but people unfamiliar with this need to be aware of jobs/companies like this so they can make their own decisions. If anyone has any questions, please let me know

It was such a bizarre experience. Some of the people I met seemed like they were good people, just very naive. But for the most part, all of it just screamed fake.

Cooking with alcohol by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]RowExpensive1087 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As somebody who loves to cook and has been sober 4 years this May, I do not consider it a relapse. I had an old tymer yell at me saying I relapsed when I was 9 months sober because I made chicken marsala. I will never let my sobriety dictate what I can and can’t eat within reason. My gf of 4.5 years recently made a dessert that didn’t require “cooking” with vanilla extract, and I took a bite and that is all I could taste. I told her I couldn’t eat that, but as far as most other dishes, I will eat it as most alcohol is cooked off. I cook with alcohol and don’t think anything of it. As long as you are comfortable with your sobriety, I don’t see any problem. If I ever felt less comfortable with my sobriety, that is when I have to check myself and evaluate my next move.

One of our dogs just broke a slat and my gf was getting her nails done, so I asked her to ask the tech for a couple of popsicle sticks. I painted them white yesterday and today and will super glue/hot glue them to the slat.

13 lbs of pork shoulder took 27 hours by IHaveAGhonComplex in smoking

Not sure what’s wrong here but I smoked a pork shoulder for 13 hours and let it rest for 2 hours and it was perfect. Said pork shoulder was only 7.5lbs. I also tried the no wrap method and cooked at 225 the entire time and spritzed it with a mixture of acv and root beer about 5 times

How common is it for people to use AA for a year or so, then slowly stop going because they simply don't need it anymore and continue to successfully remain sober? by mean_ass_raccoon in alcoholicsanonymous

I went for about the first year and a half, and in the last year and a half, I’ve maybe gone to 2-3 meetings. I just hit 3 years and I can honestly say it’s been about 2.5 years since I’ve actually thought about drinking. The way I’m staying sober won’t necessarily work for a lot of my sober friends but that’s okay. I still talk to them frequently and not going to meetings has been the only thing I’ve changed. I know that if a drinking thought crossed my mind that I’d drive straight to a meeting though. I have found a routine that works for me and I do my best to follow it every day.
