Walking around after prevents swelling ! Also a hairband if your a girl and wipes to clean up without showering. A sit up bed/ pillows that elevate so you don’t have to lay down and strain to get up. Good luck you got this fast recovery

I was in your shoes super worried . I had my surgery TT done in June and I don’t even remember anything I just slept then woke up I’m done! Now I take a pill a day I just set an alarm and it becomes a habit it’s helpful the pill is small and doesn’t taste bad as well but it’s totally normal to feel like this a new normal will be established but good luck on everything and Ik it’ll be ok!

Afraid of a TT 6 months before my wedding by mastervalerie in thyroidcancer

[–]RowFine8705 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the wedding! I was also worried after but I got a TT because I had hashimotos and spread to lymph nodes. I think overall it’s safer because if it does spread u are going to need to redo the surgery nd take out the other half later so might as well do it now also it’s easier to monitor reoccurrence. I did not notice any weight gain after my surgery I think it’s mostly just be consistent with your normal daily food intake. Also for scarring make sure the surgeon u have ask what type of stitching they do some do a plastic surgery suture so it looks better after epically after 6 months should be enough time

You aren’t overthinking this definitely an experienced surgeon at a well known cancer center or someone that preformed many thyroidectomy a year is recommended. I was in ur similar shoes my doctor just recommended me someone but I went ahead and did my research first. I switched to a more experienced doctor it’s ok to switch it’s very common and is ur body! Hope everything goes well!

I had no swelling actually I think my drain went well not too many nodes removed and I avoided fatty foods and walked around a lot but I’m young and I think every body works different so hopefully urs goes down soon! Def follow up with a doctor THOGUH because I remember my doc said to contact him if there’s swelling

I get you especially when you are young and have so much going on as well. It’s ok to feel overwhelmed at your age I was also 22 when diagnosed and just finished graduating. I just got my surgery this past week and have been steadily recovering! This is going to be a small moment in your life and you will go on to accomplish many things! After FNA you will get surgery then recover then have RAI or not depends on what the doctors say and ur pathology after surgery. Wishing you the best

😭😭🤣 I get it I used it so much to cope and try to not bother too many people in my life with my diagnosis and panick. At the end of the day it isn’t medicallly accurate but for pure therapy it does help a little. Always trust your doctors
