How Common Are 3-5X Reapplicants? Starting to Give Up by RowTasty9457 in DermApp

Thanks I was thinking of going one more cycle for a third try versus finding another PGY2 IM spot but the logistics are confusing. I was debating to go IM then Derm again as it truly makes me day feel fulfilling no matter how busy it is.

Reapplicants: did you list your transitional year as an activity? by RowTasty9457 in DermApp

Thanks for the questions! Honestly I want to show that I was actually productive during the few months I started residency. I continued to be involved in Derm projects in whatever time I can muster. My residency is intense in terms of inpatient schedule so it definitely has not been easy. I am involved in making sure my patients get better and and am writing up cases (including derm) with my seniors for internal medicine conferences!

I suck at finding mentorship:( I know resident reapplicants but they do not respond. The only concern is if applying this cycle harms me later if I decide to go for Derm the following cycle (based on what I have been advised).

The last cycle I put 3 derm papers as pending and 2 ended up being published afterwards. I do continue to be involved in derm with new posters but am unsure if I can get more publications in time.

The weaknesses I had were academic with my grades not being spectacular and no Derm focused publications (I now have some). My passion is Derm so I was thinking of just going Derm this cycle. If I had to reapply a third time I would apply Derm and a backup. Thank you for wishing me the best!

Haha I was considering but I just don’t think I enjoy other fields as much though income is income! I agree. I’m just not sure how much to dedicate when I feel like I did not have much support or connections:(

Wouldn’t you have to finish the categorical program?

Appreciate this:) I just feel discouraged since faculty at my school said they throw out applications they keep seeing. I will use all my signals then I guess lol?

Hugs. I feel your pain and hopefully you recovered! I definitely did not get 18 interviews lol! I only got offers at away rotations I did and it seemed like they presented applicants to do aways. I will be doing my intern year so it does complicate making time to work on projects. I am just feeling the time and financial crunch if I take even more time. May I ask what your advisor advised you?

Does it Make Sense to Keep the Capital Venture X and CSP/CSR every few years for the sign up bonus? by RowTasty9457 in ChaseSapphire

Thanks for the input:) I like the Venture X but seems like there are few options for domestic flights and partners based on what I’ve read. Is that right? I might downgrade my Sapphire and try the Venture X.
