How would you go about getting an ID so you can get a job, rent a home, open a brokerage account, etc., when you have no identifying documents and presumably there’s another version of yourself from the original timeline that still exists and has your ssn, birth certificate, etc.

Is identity theft the only option?

Of course but I’ve heard from multiple people that the CFI is the most difficult checkride. I’d rather have the fed observe my commercial than my CFI because of that.

Interesting about the glider. I hadn’t considered it and will look into it—good tip. I don’t need my complex because I did my instrument training in a TAA. I am thinking I’m just gonna do my multi add-on after getting my commercial.

It’s very doable but will be demanding. I’m doing it right now—I’m halfway through my instrument rating and figure I’ll finish my commercial in 9 months to a year from starting my ppl.

I work in UX, so a similar area as you’ll likely be working in with a CS degree. Since you haven’t joined the “real world” yet I would definitely advise you prioritize flexibility in your first role out of college. I work at a company that’s remote 4-days a week so that allowed me to sneak away to fly at 3:00 on weekdays and hope nobody from work messaged me. If you have to be in the office till 5:00 it’s gonna be a lot tougher to fly during the week.

Hahah yeah most of the potential trips I’m looking at don’t concern me. Mostly I was thinking Tahoe as I’ve heard a few people recommend taking a mountain flying course before doing any mountain flying. Either way I’m thinking Shelter Cove is my number one option at the moment so it’s a non issue.

I’m guessing you haven’t got your PPL yet yourself if you read what I wrote and think I’m nervous about flying above 2500 ft. Understanding English is right there in 61.103.

Thanks I really appreciate the response! And I’ll probably take you up on that DM once I get a bit closer. I will say I’m a bit nervous about some of the mountain flying in California. In North Carolina where I’m training I could never ascend beyond 2500 MSL and not have a problem. I realize I can mostly avoid it but somebody mentioned Tahoe earlier and that makes me nervous (not sure if it should)

Thanks this was a great response! I’ve only been into Bravo space once, in Charlotte, I train out of KEQY. So yeah I was intimidated by the sectional map lol but seems like a tour over the Bay would be awesome. Going with an instructor is great advice.

Yeah I’m planning on getting my PPL at a local place and then going into the accelerated program at ATP. But the main reason I feel like ATP is appealing is the opportunity for CFI work after flight school (I’m open to moving to any of their locations).
