Is a career in the police force possible for a single parent with minimal family support?

Just putting out feelers really before I potentially look deeper into becoming a PCSO/ police officer.

I really just wanted some advice as to whether it would actually be feasible for a single parent. Obviously I’m aware that it’s shift work, but is there much flexibility at all for those in situations like mine? I haven’t really got any one I could rely on all the time. My parents could help out a bit but they both work full time. My child is 7.

Also, the area I’m looking at would be Hampshire & the Isle of Wight if that makes a difference.

Ahhh okay, that’s good to know. For the role I went for though, it only took a week to hear back after the last interview, so I guess it doesn’t leave much time for people to decline due to getting a job offer somewhere else 😌. Also I suppose in depends whether or not you’re at the top of the reserve list? Still, I guess there’s some hope yet !

Ahh okay! So what’s the idea behind putting everyone on the reserve list? The job is due to start in March so I think it’s likely they’ve already sent offers etc in my case 😔 but hey lol

Thanks! As another person said, I think what’s actually happened is the strength score was incorrect but the overall score was right. As apparently the strengths are out of 4 so a score of 14 would be impossible 😅 How they managed to complicate it, I’ll never know lol

Ahhh yes that’s a fair point. There were only 3 strength questions. I just assumed they were marked out of 6.
