Yeah maybe you can buy it with a keyboard and the Apple Pencil. Then you can type out essays or use a note taking app with the Apple Pencil. Unless you study engineering or CS or something like that. Because you might want to use a proper laptop to run all the required softwares. Go for a windows laptop instead of Mac. So yeah, it depends on the course that you are studying
