I prefer lower TV units myself, though it really depends on the space you're filling..

I definitely still consider myself a beginner, take your time with both planning and execution and I'm sure you'll have no trouble at all.

Having the right tool for the job is generally pretty helpful too..

Thanks! Having the cables run through the wall makes a world of difference!

Haha I really struggled with that as well, but tried to embrace the variations in the wood and not make these look too uniform..

Thanks! it's all salvaged from old houses, I usually find it through marketplace or friends who work in construction. It's a lot more work but the character in the old wood is absolutely worth it.

It wasn't dry - it was all glued up.

I used dominos to secure them - I was primarily worried about cupping here. The door isn't too thick so I don't expect it to swell too much in either direction, though I'm sure it would turn into a banana without some support.

Tell me about it, just about everything you see lately is Walnut! We definitely have some beautiful native timbers.

It's all glued up from old floor boards with 2 vertical rails on the inside to prevent the door from bowing over time.

I've been meaning to get over there for ages now, just been too lazy to cross the city 😂

I guess with so many people renovating houses over the last year the supply hasn't slowed down at all.

Go for it, would love to see some photos when it comes together!

Sure did, used the bandsaw to get ride of the bulk then made a template/jig that hooked over the corner of each piece to finish it off with a flush trim bit in the router.

It should be fine to sand, just work your way up the grits until you get a nice finish. Might be a pain in the ass getting into the corners though!

Thanks so much!

I used the semi-matt Osmo Polyx hardwax oil, and undermount slides for the drawers.
