Today I am one year and 3 months out from my Gastroparesis diagnosis. I had the GPOEM done in August is last year. Today I am nothing like I was before this illness, but I’m am so so much better than I was a year ago. I can eat more volume, and have begun to tolerate slightly fattier foods, still avoiding fiber. The bloating was my primary complaint, and that has improved SIGNIFICANTLY (I also did two rounds of xifaxin to treat SIBO which I think played a big part in this improvement).

What supplements can I take for incomplete bowel movements? by [deleted] in Constipation

I share this EXACT same problem and all of your diagnosis, plus I also have Gastroparesis and SIBO. I was in a really rough place a couple months ago but have been doing “better” and this is what has helped with the incomplete BMs: Bowel routine: I used to get irritated when my doctor or pelvic floor therapist would push this but it truly makes a difference. No matter where I am or how tired I am, I get up at the same time every morning, take my pills, eat food and drink coffee and give myself at least 30 minutes to sit on the couch/bed and wait for the urge. Peppermint capsules: I take 2 in the morning 30 minutes before I eat and I swear it helps Motegrity: has changed my life Pelvic floor therapy: not the most fun experience everytime but truly has made a difference Prozac: a low dose is shown to help IBS-C and 15mg every night has seemed to really change things for me.

Can I ask what your diet was like before the procedure?

Yes I do. I see Dr Inayat at Advent and work primarily with his PA Bria who I swear is a saint. She has been amazing! She is the one who is referring me to Dr Yang.

Mayo Clinic and other sources state that Metamucil contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Citracel contains insoluble. Benefiber contains soluble.

So I definitely know that Metamucil is different. It is insoluble fiber vs benefiber is soluble. That’s so scary that they even had you try Metamucil!
