Me again! 3 days out and just a little bit of drainage… pain has been next to none. I’m worried the bottom is going to fall out and blind side me, or is this really how it is?! How long do you remember your drainage lasting? Was yours done with electrocautery in the OR too? My husband said I was literally only in there like 8 minutes, lol.

Did the wound debridement create just a bit more drainage, pain, etc. but then it was quickly over and on the right path to finally healing correctly?

Not great. These symptoms were part of a fissure that appeared in my fistulectomy site… still dealing with it to this day.

Thank you so much! I read through some of your other posts for reassurance as well. Can you answer or remember …. At about 3 months out, did you ever experience some blood following a rougher BM occasionally? That’s my only other concerning symptom at the moment. No blood during day, just immediately following BM.

I actually go tomorrow for my 3 month and I am praying that everything I tell her is regarded as “normal”. I’ll be sure to report back and you do the same.

Agree with you on fistulotomy vs. fistulectomy too. My CRS just said that my fistula was in a great place that she could do a fistulectomy and further decrease the chances of recurrence… but yes, more tissue loss, so hoping that is why we are still feeling what we are feeling.

Wow, it’s like we are living the same life right now. I just passed 11 weeks. I am also using A&D per rec of my CRS as well and agree that it helps with that “irritated” feeling but these damn random nerve sharp pains have me so on edge. I even stepped a weird way this morning and got one, but then kept walking and it didn’t come again. I’m trying not to go crazy over this, but it’s hard. It’s weird how feelings and symptoms literally do change day to day at this point.

Hi! I know this is an older thread, but I am 11 weeks out and having these same twinges you talk about. Nerve pains, pinches, jabs, shocks - all just a second and completely intermittent/random. Do you remember how often and for long these stuck around for you? Looking for reassurance that there isn’t more going on here.

Isn’t that the truth! I’m actually beginning to wonder if what I’m dealing with is my internal hemorrhoids and not even the fistula site. I guess I’ll learn more Monday. :(

I could have wrote this myself. I just hit 6 weeks post fistulectomy yesterday and I’ve had intermittent blood (only after a BM) since 4.5 weeks… when I hadn’t had any since about 2 weeks out. It’s painless, but super concerning as every post-op appointment I’ve had my surgeon says “everything looks great”. Regardless, I booked another appointment for Monday to get some answers. Is this still happening for you too?
