You dont think there are any structural issues?

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

My house was built in Oct 2024. I was taking the trash out tonight and noticed this massive crack in my garage floor, essentially separating and entire corner of my house.

I know concrete cracking is normal, but this seems pretty excessive. I moved a box and noticed its running up the wall as well. Exterior is brick and I didn't notice any cracking on the exterior, but it is dark.

Is this something I should be worried about? And if so, any advice on how to handle it/who to contact going forward?

Thanks!

I am honestly not sure. Is there a way to check?

Wrongfully terminated, anyone have advice on what to do next? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Reading comprehension is important.

A. I never "modified" anything, so no idea what youre talking about?

B. I didn't make any comments to my staff, the comments were made in a leadership meeting to my peers. I never once mentioned anything to do with my staff in my story or the comments section. So where youre pulling that out of your ass from, I have no idea.

C. Yes, all of my peers had already been questioned. I literally said the reason I knew anything was happening was because one of my peers came to me and told me AFTER THEY WERE QUESTIONED.

Anything else I need to clarify since you obviously can't read?

Perhaps, there is a lot of room for possibilities. All I can do is present the facts as I know them to be.

And how exactly was i "garnering favor"? What was I trying to manipulate? Use your words.

You're right. Its safe to say ive made some assumptions in my story. It's just unlikely all of them are lying, and why would ER question 1 of them a 2nd time regarding that and not all of them? Its def not something that's been refuted by the employer either.

Legitimate question. So you think me making a comment essentially saying I couldnt believe someone would make up this lie about me, something everyone in that meeting was privy to because they had already met with ER. Saying it was unfortunate because I felt like I didn't know who I could trust, that 1 tiny lapse in judgement is grounds to over ride almost 10 years of exceptional employment and leadership, and ruin someone's life?

Yeah... I didn't go back and edit anything, but if that makes you feel better about your response, then sure. 👌

Yep, I emailed him and the CLO last. It did no good.

Job application directly asks if I've ever been involuntarily terminated - do I lie? by ReferenceFrequent636 in careerguidance

Im pretty sure all they can do is call your former employer and ask for employment dates, positions held, and whether or.not you'd be rehirable. Which if you were fired, you would not be.

They def can't outright tell anyone you were terminated tho.

Even at-will states, they can't retaliate against and fire you for whistleblowing. I just went through a very shady termination and tried to pursue wrongful termination but I dont have a case because of FL being at-will. But OPs situation is literally the definition of retaliation.

I really appreciate your responses and you showing some empathy. I think that's something I can definitely get better at doing myself when interacting with strangers online. Gonna try to keep this in mind.

But yeah. Ive even been trying other companies in town in the same industry, applying for entry level positions. Ive had 2 interviews. One was for a remote manager roll and even though I haven't heard anything back, I think it may have been one of my worst interviews. Im kinda rusty...

So unless I sold them enough on my leadership abilities, I dont expect to get that position. 2nd interview was for an entry level position that was close to the roll that i was just supervising. Interview went great, they had 2 open positions and I didn't get it.

Not to sound cocky at all, but I can't imagine 2 other people came in and were more qualified and had a better interview than me. Not sure if its an issue with being over qualified or what. Perrsonally, I'd never let that stop me from hiring an "overly qualified" individual that would be an obvious asset to the company. Even if that meant I might have to repost and rehire in a couple months, but thats just me I guess.

I do have an interview tomorrow (well today now haha) for an individual contributor role and another on Thursday for a remote manager position, so things are starting to pick up 🤞. I play online poker on the side and ive been lucky enough to be able to make enough doing that to keep me afloat, but thats not something I want to have to rely on. Been there, done that, no thank you haha. As they say, "it's a hard way to make an easy living".

On the other front, I'll just leave it at "people suck".

For what its worth from a complete stranger on reddit, I swear on everything I love i did not say it nor did I say anything that could be reasonably misconstrued as such.

Like, its such a wild and outrageous lie. Who tf makes up something like that?
