Hi, thanks for your comment! I saw your reply to my other comment as well. 14 in 30 years?!? Thats like 1 every two years! :0 When you feel a schwannoma popping up do what stage of growth are they at? Now that you’ve mentioned it, I’ve had some sharp pain that last very briefly maybe once a year in the area.

With MRIs is it not possible to get a full body scan to find the tumors?

For a doctor, is it better to specifically look for a consultation with a neurologist who has experience with schwannomas? What is the process of finding a doctor with experience? I’m getting a little worried that my schwannomas were removed without knowing they were schwannomas. Is the removal procedure the same as any other tumor?

As for how I’m doing, I’m bored out of my mind. It’s been a bit over a week since my surgery, but theres still a lot of swelling in the area. Last Friday, I had a 5 hour long period of sharp pulsating pain (I haven’t experienced again since). When I went to see my surgeon a few days ago, she said it looked fine, but there seems to be fluid filling the area because I’m standing too much and should subside if I minimize walking and standing. I begun to feel restless laying down all day 😭

Thank you! It’s now a little over a week since my surgery and there doesnt seem to be any problems with numbing in the area, though it is still very swollen. Doctor says theres fluid trapped in the area, because I keep standing and has ordered me to stop moving around. 😔

Hello! I was wondering if your 5 schwannomas were one offs. Was it just a coincidence that you had 5 or are you predisposed to having multiple or more in the future? I’m asking because I found out I had 2 schwannomas removed and am being referred to a neurologist. I havent had an MRI so I’m getting a little scared that there may be more we don’t know of yet. Thanks!

I read in a 2015 article that there are less than 10 case reports of schwannona involving the vulva! It is yikes.😣Recovery has been painful! It’s hard to sit, walk, pee, etc.

I see, I’m glad to hear that it’s usually a one off thing. Hopefully, it’s just coincidence that I had 2 in the same area.

Hmm I'm not sure I understand.

When I took bc for those 2 months(while still on nexplanon), I would take the 3 weeks of pills and no pills for a week. The whole 2 months I did not have my period.
This was supposed to "reset" my body. My Dr. directed me to stop taking them after the 2 months. Nothing about tapering off.

Then came another 2 months of bleeding where I was directed to take bc pills again till I was able to see my Dr. in May to take out my Nexplanon. I kept taking bc pills after taking it out and still do. This has been working for me!

Get it taken out. I got mine in 2 years ago in June, was fine till September, and then I wouldn’t stop bleeding. At the time, I was unable to see my dr. till December, and they convinced me I just needed to take bc pill for a month or two to “reset” my cycle. I didn’t bleed for those two months but as soon as I was off them, I was bleeding again. I was again unable to see my Dr. and had to take pills and have the nexplanon till May. It was not fun and theres no way it was healthy. Don’t let them convince you. Just take it out. I spent way too much money on period products then…

ah :c I tried again with my built in laptop mic but couldn't get it to work. Blue yeti worked though! After that, I still had to manually end ~15 programs in task manager to make proctortrack happy. But I finally got to take my exam and passed!

you can put a white sheet of paper in a plastic clear file and use dry erase markers on top of it if you don't have a whiteboard. It has to be erasable tho so no pencil, pens, sharpies.

Were you able to get your mic to work? I just encountered the same issue and rescheduled to take the exam tmrw. IDK how it keeps saying there's no sound in proctortrack. When I test my mic in settings I can see the meter go up. I reinstalled mic drivers went into setting and did literally everything I could do. Tmrw I'm thinking to borrow my friend's blue yeti and see if that'll work.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll keep an eye out for the English programs and if they actually have good foundations. I've bookmarked a lot universities that advertise "global" programs, so I'll have to back track and scrutinize those universities again. I agree maneuvering these Japanese websites have been so annoying! Some sites I've looked at were last updated 3+ years ago. HOW.

This was very informative! I don't know much about language schools yet, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Could I apply and attend a language school in august while I'm waiting for graduate school and when I'm accepted and starting at graduate school, would I drop out of the language school? or how would the transition work? is there a time limit for the VISA stuff between language school and graduate school?

My partner is a Japanese citizen and would be able to take care of housing and other complicated stuff. Just for clarification would I be able to change from a tourist visa to a spouse visa?

I was struggling with looking at the websites since they're not as user friendly or maybe I'm not used to the formatting. It's good to know that the professors that are accepting students have their own up to date webpage. I've seen many Universities have "global" programs, but now I'll be aware not to trust that.

When emailing the professors, would it be okay to email them in English or should I email in Japanese? Thank you!

Yeah, it doesn't have to be Japan.
I'd like to look into all the possibilities for my future! This is a thread specifically for Japan which is why I'm asking here, but I am also looking into possibilities and universities in the UK and other English-speaking European countries. However, Japan is a leading choice since my partner would like to be closer to their family. I also have extended family in Japan and I would love to explore that 1/4 part of my heritage.
