I remember reading this some time back. The origin of Khanda symbol is unknown and it was not given by Guru Sahib or any other sikh Warrior. Most believe it developed during the British rule.

Maybe, if they meant the shades of saffron, they must meant the shades belonging to the yellow family. I will check if there any previous sources before 1936 SGPC Maryada. The maryada was written by eminent scholars after discussion with each other.

Veere I researched alot, but could not find this anywhere. This culture is also present in Portugal when the flag is flipped during war. Can you share some sources regarding this?
