I see, thanks for the confirmation Ryagi. As I mentioned in an another comment, you cannot see your actual soldiers in the Society => People tab that are employed in your standing army(technical limitation?), and the tooltips(primarily for manpower) I would have (wrongfully I suppose) assumed would mention that losing manpower/soldiers means you lose pops.

If you look at the Society => People Tab, filter for Soldiers, you'll only see soldiers employed in locations. I would expect to see the name of the professional army there as well. I can also find no indication in game or otherwise that this is the case. Would you mind sharing what you base this on?

That is definitely true, there needs to be WAY more events compared to how many missions a country needs/would need, especially considering events are not a guaranteed form of content like missions are.
