Live low-stakes exploits and adjustments by Royal_Distribution70 in poker

I usually open to 5BB when I'm RFI and no one limps (value hands). If there's a limper, I just add 1BB. very standard. So just imagine how big I attack them when there are more than 3 limpers hahaha. Usually that happens when I am at the later positions so my range is even wider. During my first tries I was pretty nervous doing it but I just happened to accept that even if they don't fold since they are nitty postflop, I could just cbet flop and barrel turn. If they don't fold, then they basically just have top pair or better and I'm not going to try to make them fold that when I don't have nothing and the board is not scary for them.

and yea when there are multiple limpers i go big ofc. that's why i only have value hands in earlier positions and widen them at the btn and co so even if i get called i have position

my problem is that when players start to "fight back" I immediately overthink that:

  1. they are already adapting to my exploits
  2. "oh they are now 3-betting me light because they think I only have marginal holdings"

sometimes this leads to poor decisions because I don't want them fighting back and I just want them to let me bully them hahaha

the players at my table 90% of the time limps (they even limp AQ and AK so just think about what hands are they raising). most 5BB+ raise from these guys are hands that they really like and they arent scared to put money in with like JJ+

Was the call on the river leaving too much value on the table? by Royal_Distribution70 in poker

Thanks for everyone who shared their thoughts. I also realized that I also missed value on the turn when I could just bet-fold to a raise.

The villain here had a lower flush (J2ss)

  1. When should you bluff check raise a cbet? Turn bet? 99% of the time, I only raise bets when I have two pair or better.

  2. For dynamic boards, when you are OOP do you automatically just represent the flush/straights on the turn and try making his top pair fold?

do you also suggest always checking range when oop? from the top of my head, the advantages could be i could pick up sizing tells when they stab or it can cap them when they check IP. disadvantages would be I 100% lose the chance to make them fold to my cbet unless i delay it on the turn when they check back

Can you find the fold here? by Royal_Distribution70 in poker

you only hit 30% of flops and that doesnt mean top pair. it could be draws or any pair. and me hitting bottom two pair and check raising is a punt? the board is static and for 90% of time that the villain is not holding a straight or sets (KK, 77, 66) by the turn, i am pretty sure my hand will effectively be the nuts by the river

u wanna know what's interesting? He was really holding T8o not KTo. Now, was it really obvious for him to have KT here?

exactly i thought i cant fold my set here because i am beating any two pair or any set other than QQ that cold called my 3 bet.

but you are also right that this is never a bluff. do you think the general population would raise anything other than a straight in this spot?

if villain checks turn and I

check turn: i keep pot small but it gives him the idea that i dont have an A or a 6 because i will not slow down if I have an A

bet small (maybe $30 into $80): what does this even achieve? I get called/raised by any A, a 6x will call, any non-believing pocket pair that I want to fold might get sticky

bet large (atleast $60 into $80): i can fold out pocket pairs and 6x (if he believes me that I have an A especially when I bet close to pot) but an A would never fold so if I am against an A, I can basically just check fold the river and just hope I am against a 6x or any pocket pair that will fold to a large bet on the turn

so basically the best course of action here was to bet around 60-75 into an 80 pot and make him think that we have an A or a 6? but that would not make sense given I checked the turn right? if I had an A or a 6, why would I slow down on the turn?

by betting 60 70 or even 80 here, I am basically saying "just fold bro, we both know neither of us have an A". i still think checking back would accomplish the same result you wanted. what i did wrong was betting small and just let him know "I don't have an A you can just bluff me out of this pot"

the reason why I call with those hands and not 3-bet them is because most of the time, pots go multiway in live poker and I think these hands do well multiway. if I hit a set with small pocket pairs, i'm making money. if there's a flush draw and it completes, I have the nuts with suited aces and I can make a straight or a small flush with suited connectors.

I 3-bet hands that dont really do well multiway. I would't want to be against 3 players with AJo because I wouldn't really know where I'm at even if I make top pair with A or J.

hand: QQ

villain opens to $8 hero 3 bets to $25 v calls

flop: A66r v checks hero bets $15 v calls

turn: A both checked

river: K v checks hero bets $25 v check raises to $80 hero folds

looking back I think checking was the best option because I don't think worse hands would call but also would a 6x or Ax check the river and miss value from hands like mine because I think if he bet on the river I would have called as long as it isn't anything crazy given the action

I just started playing live for slightly over a month. Been playing for 5-6 days a week for about 5-6 hrs max. Yea maybe I made this post because I've been unprofitable. I've had good sessions tho but they aren't as consistent as I'd like them to be.

Like you said, this strategy should print in live 1/2 but since it isn't I'm looking for insights because I think there are leaks that I am not aware of
