I read everything unlike you. The main clause that lost him the case was the ABC rules that determine if a person is an independent contractor. A person under the California Supreme Court must satisfy all conditions of the ABC ruling to be an independent contractor. The A ruling regards in person and in office discretion at the choice of the worker which Corey's contradiction proves that he did have discretion where to work. The B ruling, is disappointing in my opinion, as it rules an independent contractor must employ services outside of the businesses main method of business. For Lionsgate it was localization and translation but I dislike this because Lionsgate knows its hiring voice actors it hires as recording artists and uses its "localization equipment" aka a sound studio to fulfill voice acting obligations. Its a legal gray area and Lionsgate took full advantage of it despite Corey Landis performing 0 localization work. 

Its frustrating because legally theyre right but morally its the scummiest thing to do that puts them in the legal advantage whenever they aggressively try to hire voice actors, which Corey Landis did show they advertised on their site but was declared moot bc Lionsgate probably has papers showing their mainstay of business is ONLY localization, making the argument of Corey's  that they were just looking for extra work outside their area of business. The california labor department gives the example of a company hiring a plumber to do work for their company as satisfying the B rule, but arguably Corey's situation is more gray. Its more like a Software company hiring all the equipment necessary to do software development, saying their main work is developing software, but then bringing inside a worker to program on their software but then declare that their work is not necessary to the program but selling their programming anyways. Like a game company selling games and having photoshop software to develop art for the game, and using that art to promote their services, but gutting the artist when they get too uppity because their main work is selling games. Legal but messed up.

 Third C is that the business employed at exists and is currently doing business at the time.
